What I'm writing in YEAR OF THE DOG

I just finished writing Year of the Dog ! It had a massive plot hole that I had to fix which turned out to be more work than I expected. Here’s a snippet: “Hey, Auntie Nell.” He wrapped his arms around her, bussing her on the cheek and breathing in pikake flowers and shortbread cookies. And suddenly he was nine years old again, and her solid presence had made his chaotic world stable once more. “What are you doing here?” He usually took her to dinner on Wednesday nights, but today was Tuesday. The edges of her smile faltered a little before brightening right back up again. “What, I can’t visit my nephew?” She angled around him to enter his home. “Is this your new house? Looks lovely.” Which was a blatant lie, because the fixer-upper was barely livable, much less acceptable to a neat-freak like his aunt. She also left four matching pink and purple floral suitcases on the stoop behind her. Only then did Ashwin notice the cab driver standing slightly to the side of the walkway. “Can ...

Slow Down Saturday - Lamentations 3:25

For today's Slow Down Saturday, I wanted to share this verse with you. I'm not always consistent with my daily Bible readings, which is really bad for me. It was like this especially when I was was sick during most of March and part of April with IBS issues. I hadn't read the Bible in a while, and I started to feel sluggish and stagnant inside, as if something was stuck. It felt like something in my spirit was wrong. When I finally started feeling better, I got back into my daily Bible readings. When I read my Bible and started spending time in prayer again, I instantly--and I mean instantly--felt refreshed and renewed. It was a reminder that God is with me. I was reminded to seek the Lord's will and His guidance. I remembered that following His purpose for me makes me feel like I'm on the right path after wandering lost for a while. Take a moment today to stop and read a passage in your Bible, and spend a few minutes in prayer. Be reminded that God is there an...

Save the Date book trailer!

WOW I haven’t had a book trailer for my books since Protection for Hire! (Actually, I think that was the only book trailer I’ve had for one of my books …) Anyway, Marion made this trailer for our Christian Contemporary Romance anthology!

How to contact me

I wanted to let people know that the best way to contact me is posting a comment on either my blog or posting in my Facebook reader group . If you post on my blog, make sure your email address is in your profile so I can reply. On Facebook, I'll tag you so you'll know when I respond. Lately, I had a bad bout with distraction and procrastination, so I decided to change up my internet time. Maybe it's a result of getting older, but I have a hard time switching from a social media/reader interaction mindset to a writing mindset. I guess I just can't switch gears in my brain as easily as I did when I was younger. So until further notice, I'll only be checking email and Facebook on Saturdays. If you comment on my blog or on my Facebook page, just know that I likely won't respond right away. I hope this isn't too much of an inconvenience for people. I figure, if it's urgent, people will usually call or text me. But limiting my internet time seems to ...
