Northanger Abbey on Masterpiece

Captain's Log, Supplemental

Okay, I finally got a chance to watch Northanger Abbey on Masterpiece. I was very entertained! I have to admit, however, that I’m not as fond of Northanger Abbey as I am of Persuasion, so I wasn’t well-versed enough to know where the script deviated from the novel.

Ignorance is bliss.

I thought it was very well cast. I LOVED the actor who played Henry Tilney—I thought he was perfect. I also liked the actress who plays Catherine Moorland. And I thought Mrs. Allen looked familiar—the actress is the same one who played Fanny Price in that old BBC version of Mansfield Park!

Anyway, it’s gotten me to read Northanger Abbey again. So far, there are a few differences but nothing major—mostly just to compress the storyline for a 2 hour movie. And I found out that the script was written by Andrew Davies, who did the BBC miniseries Pride and Prejudice starring Colin Firth, so I’m rather pleased.

I loved Northanger Abbey - and JJ Feild, oh my word, I LOVE him!

Curious what you think of Mansfield Park (the Billie Piper version). I thought it was a bit of a mess...definitely my least favorite of the last 3 adaptations.

I liked it too, but it had been so long since I read Northanger Abbey that I had forgotten most of it anyway.

Camy, I thought Mr. Tilney was great, too. I have Mansfield Park on my DVR right now, but I don't know when I'm going to get to watch it.

Maybe I can skip sleep? :D

Well since I haven't seen any of them except those made into big movies I have really enjoyed them all.

Did you note the gal who played Maria in Mansfield Park is the Bionic Woman??

Hi Camy,
Great thoughts. Believe it or not, I have never read or watched Northanger Abbey. I LOVE Persuasion and Pride and Prejudice.

She was just so young looking! I could barely wrap my mind around the fact that she was getting married! I really enjoyed it even though I have not read the book yet, I intend to now!

Costumes: score 4. They were mostly really rather nice, appropriate to the character’s background and income, and not too flamboyant, although there were several places the women’s headgear was just way over the top. How to Start the Lady Wynwood’s Spies Series (with Free Prequels & Bonus Extras)

New to Lady Wynwood’s Spies? Start Here I’m a fan of both Pride and Prejudice and Mission: Impossible , and I loved the idea of noblewomen working as undercover agents, so I wrote this Christian Regency romantic suspense series for readers just like me. Lady Wynwood’s Spies is a multi-volume adventure filled with faith, suspense, and romance. Unlike many historical romances that stand alone, each volume continues a larger story, pulling you further into the same grand conspiracy. Along the way, the series draws you deeper into the characters’ struggles and triumphs, giving you a richer, more immersive experience. If you love stories where you don’t have to say goodbye to the characters after just one book, this series was written for you. Below is your complete reader guide to the books, prequels, bonus content, and behind-the-scenes extras. Whether you’re just curious or ready to dive in, this roadmap will help you find the perfect place to start. ✨ Lady Wynwood’s Spies Reader...

Tabi socks, part deux

Captain's Log, Stardate 07.25.2008 (If you're on Ravelry, friend me! I'm camytang.) I made tabi socks again! (At the bottom of the pattern is the calculation for the toe split if you're not using the same weight yarn that I did for this pattern (fingering). I also give an example from when I used worsted weight yarn with this pattern.) I used Opal yarn, Petticoat colorway. It’s a finer yarn than my last pair of tabi socks, so I altered the pattern a bit. Okay, so here’s my first foray into giving a knitting pattern. Camy’s top-down Tabi Socks I’m assuming you already know the basics of knitting socks. If you’re a beginner, here are some great tutorials: Socks 101 How to Knit Socks The Sock Knitter’s Companion A video of turning the heel Sock Knitting Tips Yarn: I have used both fingering weight and worsted weight yarn with this pattern.
