I just finished writing Year of the Dog ! It had a massive plot hole that I had to fix which turned out to be more work than I expected. Here’s a snippet: “Hey, Auntie Nell.” He wrapped his arms around her, bussing her on the cheek and breathing in pikake flowers and shortbread cookies. And suddenly he was nine years old again, and her solid presence had made his chaotic world stable once more. “What are you doing here?” He usually took her to dinner on Wednesday nights, but today was Tuesday. The edges of her smile faltered a little before brightening right back up again. “What, I can’t visit my nephew?” She angled around him to enter his home. “Is this your new house? Looks lovely.” Which was a blatant lie, because the fixer-upper was barely livable, much less acceptable to a neat-freak like his aunt. There's a new book for teen girls that is coming out in September this year, and I'm pretty excited about it. Here's a note from the author:
Here's the blurb from the back cover:
Using the metaphor of screenwriting, My Life, Unscripted explores relationships in every teenage girl's life-with herself, her friends and enemies, her parents, guys, and with God.
Real-life scripts, screenwriting terms, and timely topics, make this an interesting read for teen girls as they delve into their own inner struggles and outward relationships. They'll also learn the importance of "scripting" their own responses BEFORE challenging life-situations arise so they are able to think about, pray about, and consider how to face these situations before the scene begins. By contrasting real-life with TV or movies, teens will understand they don't have to get caught up in the drama.
Camy here: Tricia has given me a .pdf file of the first chapter, and you can download it here:
Excerpt of My Life, Unscripted
(Let me know if the link doesn't work, because I can also email it to you)
If you have a teen girl or work with teen girls, this is definitely a book to pre-order! I'll be recommending this to my high school girls' Bible study group.

Tricia Goyer here. My next book to release is My Life, Unscripted. It hits store shelves in September.
I'm really excited about this book because I truly believe it can transform lives. The main message of the book is that girls can Script their lives instead of just dealing with the teen drama as it comes along. (Something I DID NOT do, which you'll read within the pages of my book!)
