Lady Wynwood #7 early release Kickstarter

I worked on my first Kickstarter and it got approved! It’s for the Special Edition Hardcover of Lady Wynwood’s Spies, volume 1: Archer and the release of Lady Wynwood’s Spies, volume 7: Spinster. I contacted my graphic designer about the Special Edition Hardcover of vol. 1: Archer—it’s going to be SO beautiful! The Kickstarter focuses on the Special Edition Hardcover, but it’ll also include vol. 7: Spinster so that it’ll sort of be like a launch day for vol. 7, too. A third special thing that’ll be in the Kickstarter is Special Edition Paperbacks of all the books in the series. They won’t be available in stores, just in the Kickstarter (and later, from my website, and also in my Patreon book box tiers if I decide to do them). The Kickstarter is not live yet, but you can follow it to be alerted when it has launched. (You may need to create a free Kickstarter account.) Follow Camy’s Kickstarter

Sunday Prayer

Captain’s Log, Stardate 08.20.2006

Leave any prayer requests in the comments and I’ll be praying this week. You don’t have to be Christian to leave a prayer request. If you’d rather not advertise to everyone on the blogosphere, just leave an unspoken prayer request or e-mail me. If I forgot your prayer request, e-mail me. Not to be mean or anything, but if you don't e-mail me or comment to update your prayer request, I'm only going to pray 3 Sundays.
Lord, you are holy.

Please give Jaen and her family strength and grace. Cover them with your peace and provide for them. Shower them with blessings, Lord.

I pray Angie B.'s daughter's surgery went well, and that you heal her quickly and smoothly.

Give Nancy B.'s aunt and family your grace and strength.

I pray for healing for Synner's dad. Ease his discomfort and help Synner to care for him and prepare for the conference.

Thank you for helping Dineen do her Early Bird chapter and synopsis. Continue to help her with her writing and her graphic design business.

I pray for justice for Robin and her family soon, Lord. I pray that you will help their faith remain strong no matter what happens. I pray she's having a great time at the Women of Faith conference.

Buoy Ronie up in her writing. Let her know in all ways that you are still with her, still leading and guiding her. I pray her husband passes his test with flying colors.

Help Ron's back heal completely and continue to be with him in his writing.

I pray for complete healing of Malia's back and knee. Give wisdom and favor to her doctors, therapists, nurses, and the insurance people. Help everything work out well.

Help all the SAYSFers hear back soon about their manuscript submissions. I also pray for physical healing and health for them all.

I pray for grace, rest, and peace on Mary D. Bless her trip, open her heart to what you desire for her, and continue to use her for your honor and glory.

Help Brittanie to know you even more, day by day, and to be able to share your love to others around her. Continue to provide for her, and help her to see your hand in her life.

Help Lynette continue to plow through with her new project. Give her wisdom and creativity so that her words can be used to draw others to you.

I pray for healing for Mir for her allergies and tinnitic. Help her finish her manuscript and continue to bless her.

I pray you will give strength and joy to Paula M. this week. I pray for protection from any spiritual warfare.

I pray you will lift up Megan D. Be with her in her writing and job.

Continue to give wisdom and encouragement to Donna F., so that she can share it abundantly with others. Provide for her and bless her.

Give love and patience to my friends married to non-believers.

I lift up your persecuted church, Lord. Give them all they need to spread your word and serve you.

Please continue to help me to be disciplined and Just Do It. And while I'm at it, please help me stop eating so darned much. And most of all, Lord, humble me so that I can serve you better.

Thank you for gracing us each day. Amen.

TMI:

Diet:
Okay, maybe it's crass to have a TMI right after Sunday prayer, but I have to gripe. I'm sooooooooooooo sore. I did Power Yoga on Friday and while it was a good workout--targeting abs and doing some back stretches--I really didn't think it was THAT bad. I felt pretty good afterward, even.

But Saturday (actually right now it's an hour into Sunday), I was more sore than I've been in a long time. I haven't even felt this sore when I go running for the first time in months.

And not just my abs. My legs and arms and upper back (some of that might be because of the Denise Austin workout I did before the yoga, but usually it's not that tough a workout and I wasn't heaving or anything, so I think it's got to be the yoga, mostly).

I'm not complaining about the workout, because I'm really glad I did them. I just wish I could, say, bend down. Or get myself up from the couch.

I'll do a light workout tomorrow, hopefully--get some circulation going so that this lactic acid gets shunted out of my muscles.

Camy--It means *so much* to me that you pray for me. I can't tell you how much it blesses me. Thanks, girlfriend!
Camy... you totally rock. this prayer is EXACTLY what I need today. thank you so much, my friend.

Praying for you too!
Thanks for the continued prayer, Camy. Stephen's shoulder still gives him quite a bit of pain as he slowly works on strengthening it. He's also been getting a lot of headaches lately.

My sister just got two puppies, and I think I'm having an allergic reaction to them. I've never had a problem with allergies before (beyond food), so please pray for me as I adjust to this, especially until the puppies (Australian shepherd/lab mix) are old enough to move outside.

Thank you for the prayers, girl! I love reading your prayer aloud and praying for so many. I love joining forces to knock on the throne room door!

Please continue to pray. Next week will be HARD. I don't think I've ever gone through anything so stressful in my life. Praising that He's still on the throne and in the miracle business!

What's a Kickstarter and what will I get from it?

I’m hoping to do a Kickstarter in late July or early August, and I thought I’d post this to answer a few questions you might have about it. What’s a Kickstarter and why’s Camy doing one? My Kickstarter is a crowdfunding campaign to fund the production of a Special Edition hardcover with dust jacket of Lady Wynwood’s Spies, volume 1: Archer. Depending on how this Kickstarter goes, eventually I would like to do Special Edition hardcovers of the other books in the series. For all you avid fans of the series, this Kickstarter will also offer an early release of Lady Wynwood’s Spies, volume 7: Spinster. However, the main focus of this campaign is the Special Edition hardcover of book 1. Kickstarter isn’t a shopping website, but I admit I kind of feel like I’m shopping when I back a campaign for books or items that look fantastic! Why Kickstarter: Kickstarter enables me to produce the kinds of gorgeous special editions that I love and offer them to you, my readers, so you can...

Toilet seat cover

Captain’s Log, Supplemental Update August 2008: I wrote up the pattern for this with "improvements"! Here's the link to my No Cold Bums toilet seat cover ! Okay, remember a few days ago I was complaining about the cold toilet seat in my bathroom? Well, I decided to knit a seat cover. Not a lid cover, but a seat cover. I went online and couldn’t find anything for the seat, just one pattern for the lid by Feminitz.com . However, I took her pattern for the inside edge of the lid cover and modified it to make a seat cover. Here it is! It’s really ugly stitch-wise because originally I made it too small and had to extend it a couple inches on each side. I figured I’d be the one staring at it, so who cared if the extension wasn’t perfectly invisible? I used acrylic yarn since, well, that’s what I had, and also because it’s easy to wash. I’ll probably have to wash this cover every week or so, but it’s easy to take off—I made ties which you can see near the back of the seat. And...

No Cold Bums toilet seat cover

Captain's Log, Stardate 08.22.2008 I actually wrote out my pattern! I was getting a lot of hits on my infamous toilet seat cover , and I wanted to make a new one with “improvements,” so I paid attention and wrote things down as I made the new one. This was originally based off the Potty Mouth toilet cover , but I altered it to fit over the seat instead of the lid. Yarn: any worsted weight yarn, about 120 yards (this is a really tight number, I used exactly 118 yards. My suggestion is to make sure you have about 130 yards.) I suggest using acrylic yarn because you’re going to be washing this often. Needle: I used US 8, but you can use whatever needle size is recommended by the yarn you’re using. Gauge: Not that important. Mine was 4 sts/1 inch in garter stitch. 6 buttons (I used some leftover shell buttons I had in my stash) tapestry needle Crochet hook (optional) Cover: Using a provisional cast on, cast on 12 stitches. Work in garter st until liner measures...

Brainstorm - character occupation

Captain's Log, Stardate 03.23.2009 Hey guys, I could use some help. In my current manuscript, The Year of the Dog , which is a humorous contemporary romance, I have a minor character, Eddie. He’s my heroine’s ex-boyfriend, and they’re on good terms with each other. He’s a bit irresponsible, but not so much so that he’s a complete loser. He’s got a very easy going attitude, he forgets to pay his bills sometimes, he’s friendly and charming. He’s adventurous and fun to be around, but he’s a little forgetful sometimes, and he tends to spend a little outside his income. I need an occupation for him. What would a charming, easy going, slightly irresponsible guy do for a living? He’s not too irresponsible, because otherwise readers will wonder what in the world my heroine saw in him to date him in the first place. She was attracted to his charm, his easy going attitude (her family’s uptight, and he was a nice contrast), and his adventurousness. But his forgetfulness and irresponsibility ...

Camy’s upcoming publishing schedule

After the craziness of the Kickstarter, I hope to put Lady Wynwood’s Spies, Volume 7: Spinster  up on Amazon probably in the first week of March. I am currently working on a Christian contemporary romantic suspense, Year of the Dog , because it’s due for the multi-author anthology I’m in that releases in May, Danger in the Shadows.  I’ll probably post the chapters (including the annotated chapters) on my Patreon, but I won’t be able to give a free .epub copy to my paid subscribers since it’ll release in the anthology in May 2025. The chapters will be taken down in May, so be sure to read it while it’s still up on my Patreon. I’ve been posting my Christian contemporary romantic suspense, Protection for Hire , but there’s a chance I might pause it in order to post Year of the Dog , because I am realizing I’m not very good at juggling two contemporary projects at the same time. If I do pause it, I’ll start up again after Bento and Betrayal  is done, probably sometime in the...

Captivating, chapter 11

Captain’s Log, Stardate 09.15.2006 Blog book giveaway: My Monday book giveaway is JADE by Marilynn Griffith . My Thursday book giveaway is SQUAT by Taylor Field . You can still enter both giveaways. Just post a comment on each of those blog posts. On Monday, I'll draw the winner for JADE and post the title for another book I'm giving away. Warrior Princesses: I liked the title of this chapter, but when I started reading it, I was confused about what she meant. The chapter started off describing women who went to war or fought battles, taking on the roles of men. But then the chapter went into how we fight as women, and talking about fighting our spiritual enemy, Satan. Okay, that’s fine. But what did that have to do with the physical warrior women at the start of the chapter? All Christians must fight Satan as our enemy. Spiritual warfare isn’t anything unique to women. I’m wondering if she’s addressing women who feel they aren’t qualified or equipped to battle spiritual warfa...

Tabi socks, part deux

Captain's Log, Stardate 07.25.2008 (If you're on Ravelry, friend me! I'm camytang.) I made tabi socks again! (At the bottom of the pattern is the calculation for the toe split if you're not using the same weight yarn that I did for this pattern (fingering). I also give an example from when I used worsted weight yarn with this pattern.) I used Opal yarn, Petticoat colorway. It’s a finer yarn than my last pair of tabi socks, so I altered the pattern a bit. Okay, so here’s my first foray into giving a knitting pattern. Camy’s top-down Tabi Socks I’m assuming you already know the basics of knitting socks. If you’re a beginner, here are some great tutorials: Socks 101 How to Knit Socks The Sock Knitter’s Companion A video of turning the heel Sock Knitting Tips Yarn: I have used both fingering weight and worsted weight yarn with this pattern. You just change the number of cast on stitches according to your gauge and the circumference of your ankle. Th...

Lady Wynwood and the Senhora’s Bargain excerpt

Here’s a snippet of the Lady Wynwood novella I’m posting on Patreon at the moment: “If you will follow me?” the butler said and led the way up the staircase. The first floor hallway was long and sumptuous, with paintings on the wall and small statues on spindly tables next to elegant Chinese faces. The sound of music was slightly louder, but still muffled, and Laura could hear no voices at all. On the second floor, after traversing a narrower hallway with closed doors on either side, the butler knocked at a door at the end. A deep, smoky voice bade them enter. The room was dim but for the roaring fireplace and a few well-placed but low-burning lamps. The furniture looked comfortable and was upholstered in shades of burgundy and hunter green, and although the light did not reach the heavy curtains, she assumed they were the same colors. From the far corner approached a woman who had been standing behind the heavy wooden desk situated there. She was dressed in a dark burgu...

Chopsticks and knitting

Hahahahaha! My husband, Captain Caffeine sent me this cartoon. The Asian and the knitter in me loves this one: My parents taught me to use chopsticks at an early age so they’re pretty comfortable for me. Did you know there are differences between Japanese and Chinese chopsticks? The Chinese ones tend to be blunter and more slippery whereas the Japanese ones are pointier and sometimes have a textured tip to make it easier to grab food. My mom will eat salad with a chopstick, which I have to admit is a bit easier than a fork, for me. Any of you knit? Any of you use chopsticks?
