ICRS, part 1:
International Christian Retail Show. Huge convention for Christian retailers to see the new gift items and things for their store, and also the new books.
Had a great time. That about sums it up.
Despite the RAIN. The one weekend a freak rain comes into Denver and it’s my trip (yes, it’s all about me). Cold, cold, cold. Rainy. I took taxis even when my destination was only a couple blocks away.
First things first. My wonderful friend Audra Harders picked me up from the airport and took me to my hotel for Saturday night—I was sharing a room with Christy finalist Linda Wichman for that night. Audra, the sweetie, also gave me a “Denver survival” gift basket with a water bottle, chapstick, hand lotion, and CANDY.
Audra and I intended to go out to lunch, but it turned out that my agent Wendy Lawton was in the same hotel, and when she heard (from Linda) that I was coming in that day, she asked Linda to let her know so we could all go out to lunch. She took us (Audra included) to a cozy diner downtown.
We had a great lunch. Wendy talked a bit about the market and writing business. She’d just had an appointment with my senior editor at Z, Sue Brower, and she shared some things Sue had told her in general and about Z’s plans for me.
I had an appointment with FaithWords publisher Chip MacGregor at 2:30. It was fun. We hung out in the bar at the Hyatt Regency, had a drink, shot the breeze. Chip is so funny. I also got a chance to talk over some Genesis contest stuff with him, which was terrific.
Next: the Christy awards, and How You Should Not To Make a Complete Fool of Yourself in Front of People.

I love reading your conference/show updates! Such fun. I have to tell you though I have some bad memories of my trip to Denver last April (for a friend's wedding) -- altitude sickness, migraine headaches, getting stuck in the Denver airport for over 24 hrs due to an April BLIZZARD...yeah, fun times. :)
Oooh, oooh, can't wait for the post about not making a complete fool of oneself. Although I needed that a few months ago...:-)
Wish I had gotten a chance to get up there and say hi.
Look forward to your reporting though :)
love ya,
donna
I seem to be in a rush all the time. Just got a call from next door that I can get my hair cut but still have to go to the washroom.
