My Sonoma series started with 3 books starring the 3 Grant sisters in Sonoma. Book 4 starred Nathan, who was a minor character in book 3, and then I wrote Necessary Proof , which stars Jane, who was a minor character in book 2 and a cousin to the Grant sisters. In the next book, Unshakeable Pursuit , I brought in the Whelan family, Jane’s cousins who are also second cousins to the Grant sisters. It was rather confusing to come up with the family tree! The way I have it set up, the Whelan siblings’ mom, Emma Whelan, is sister to Jane Lawton’s mom, Eleanor Lawton. The Grant sisters’ mom and her sister, Aunt Becca, were first cousins to Emma Whelan and Eleanor Lawton. I thought it might be fun for you guys to see my created family tree, so here it is! In Lady Wynwood’s Spies, volume 6: Martyr , Aya lends Keriah a pair of fingerless gloves since the room is so cold. I had a stitch pattern in mind, but not a yarn to use, so it took me a little while to knit this. I eventually decided to use a yarn that isn’t anything like the yarns available in the Regency, but it’s such a pretty yarn I didn’t care! The yarn is a Knit Picks Special Reserve yarn called Japanese Color Twist. I know that the colors were dyed by Japanese artisan dyers. It looks like they dyed the wool roving, and then the roving was spun into the yarn creating this wild colorway. The name of the colorway is Harajuku, which made me laugh since it’s exactly what I’d expect from the Land of Cosplay. The lace pattern is named “#79 Kind of Wave Running Across (very pretty for a purse),” originally published on pages 171-172 in The Lady's Assistant, volume 2 by Mrs. Jane Gaugain, published in 1842. The model on the cover of Lady Wynwood’s Spies, volume 5: Prisoner is Laura. Her real name is Tanya, and if you’d like, you can see the original stock photo here . I chose this stock photo because I thought Tanya looked mature enough in this particular photo to be Lady Wynwood. She’s only 40 years old in the story, after all. Then my cover designer did some woo-woo magic with Adobe Photoshop and aged her a little more so that she looked closer to 40 than 30. She also added the streak of white at Laura’s left temple. The house in the background is actually a picture I took on a trip to England. It is Breadsall Priory in Derbyshire, which is now a country club. When I was writing the hunting lodge in the book, I pictured it as a smaller version of Breadsall Priory, and I set it in the middle of a forest instead of the priory’s lush grounds.
