Review: An Inheritance of Shame

An Inheritance of Shame by Kate Hewitt My rating: 5 of 5 stars I think this is one of the most romantic Harlequin Presents books I've read in a long time. I loved how the hero and heroine had such deep, complex backstories and bravely endured so much pain and suffering to become the strong people they were in the story. The heroine especially had so much quiet strength, and I really liked that about her. The hero was very sympathetic because of how he carried the pain of his childhood as a bastard child of the Corretti family and how it had molded him. This book didn't have as strong an external plot as other Presents books, but it didn't detract from a really good, well-told story. The romance itself was so full of conflict and discovery, and I loved watching the two of them come together. I wasn't nuts about the public declaration of love scene at the end, but overall it was such a great book. I loved it. View all my reviews...

Review: Wedlocked: Banished Sheikh, Untouched Queen

Wedlocked: Banished Sheikh, Untouched Queen by Carol Marinelli My rating: 5 of 5 stars Only now getting around to rating this on Goodreads. Fantastic heroine, strong, smart, logical. Hero initially comes off as a jerk and doesn't start being sympathetic until a few chapters in, but after that he's great. Writing is beautiful. Good ending. View all my reviews

Review: Fallen Angel

Fallen Angel by Charlotte Louise Dolan My rating: 5 of 5 stars What a fantastic book! It was being highly recommended on a traditional Regency romance group I belong to, and I found that I had the book on my TBR shelves (bought from a garage sale years ago) so I pulled it out. I just finished it and it was amazing. The characters are so interesting and sympathetic. Even the hero, who is terribly rude most of the time and cold as a fish at other times, is somehow incredibly likable and an amazing alpha male character with a deep, intriguing backstory. He is strong, confident, and completely clueless sometimes in a way that made me laugh. The heroine reminded me a bit of a [a:Betty Neels|24376|Betty Neels|https://d202m5krfqbpi5.cloudfront.net/authors/1267201230p2/24376.jpg] heroine, which made her all that much more entertaining to read for me, since I love Betty Neels' books. Despite some very emotional scenes, the book doesn't always take itself t...
While helping to put insulation on the whole house fan cover, Captain Caffein clocked me in the chin with the edge of the cover. He felt very bad. It was at this point that I told him how much I spent on Black Friday sales. :)
