I just finished writing Year of the Dog ! It had a massive plot hole that I had to fix which turned out to be more work than I expected. Here’s a snippet: “Hey, Auntie Nell.” He wrapped his arms around her, bussing her on the cheek and breathing in pikake flowers and shortbread cookies. And suddenly he was nine years old again, and her solid presence had made his chaotic world stable once more. “What are you doing here?” He usually took her to dinner on Wednesday nights, but today was Tuesday. The edges of her smile faltered a little before brightening right back up again. “What, I can’t visit my nephew?” She angled around him to enter his home. “Is this your new house? What a fantastic book! It was being highly recommended on a traditional Regency romance group I belong to, and I found that I had the book on my TBR shelves (bought from a garage sale years ago) so I pulled it out. I just finished it and it was amazing. The characters are so interesting and sympathetic. Even the hero, who is terribly rude most of the time and cold as a fish at other times, is somehow incredibly likable and an amazing alpha male character with a deep, intriguing backstory. He is strong, confident, and completely clueless sometimes in a way that made me laugh. The heroine reminded me a bit of a [a:Betty Neels|24376|Betty Neels|https://d202m5krfqbpi5.cloudfront.net/authors/1267201230p2/24376.jpg] heroine, which made her all that much more entertaining to read for me, since I love Betty Neels' books. Despite some very emotional scenes, the book doesn't always take itself too seriously and there are definitely some humorous parts.
This is definitely going on my keeper shelf. I'm so glad the author released this on ebook so I can by the ebook and give away my paperback copy!
