My grandmother used to always make me bright pink chi chi dango mochi every Girl’s Day, and when she could no longer make it, my mom would make it for me. These days, the local mochi shop in San Jose has lots of different flavors of chi chi dango every weekend, but somehow I remember my grandma’s mochi tasting much better. :)
