Feeling blah and NaNoWriMo

Captain's Log, Stardate 11.03.2009

Forgive me for whining, but, well…I’m going to whine.

I’ve been feeling like crap for several weeks. Tired. Headachy. Stomach a little nauseated. But no sniffles or sore throat or fever or anything “normal” in terms of flu or cold symptoms.

I did find out that one of the youth group had the Swine flu (early stages) two Saturdays ago but I haven’t developed any symptoms, plus I was feeling poorly even before then.

So what is wrong with me? Why can’t I shake this? This is seriously cramping my NaNoWriMo style.

(What’s NaNoWriMo? National Novel Writing Month. 50,000 words in 30 days. Anybody and everybody are welcome to join in—add me as a buddy if you do: http://www.nanowrimo.org/eng/user/142050.)

So, I’m into NaNoWriMo, I have only about 8,000 sorry, 800 not 8000 words, and I’m too tired to care. Captain Caffeine would say it’s because I’m sleeping too much and haven’t exercised in weeks, but I will opt to take my prerogative as spouse and ignore him.

Maybe I need an energy tea.

I don't know you well enough to suggest this, but I'll ask anyway - pregnant??

LOL! But too bad....I mean, come on! A lil baby Camy running around would be so cute ^_^

Ummmm...I'm not sure why. My sis and I had croup(or what they though "might" be croup) 2 weeks agoish(sis didn't feel good for a week longer than me). We found out someone at church had Swine Flu too! Lol...they gave her a diagnosis of croup also(weird...), but her Mom made them test her for SF because she heard that it affects kids with asthma really bad. One of her other daughters has bad asthma so...they checked her and she had it...we're not sure what we ended up having!!

I am going to a headache doctor tomorrow. Literally a headache doctor, that's their title..weird! Lol...anyway, I've been having headaches for about 6 weeks now...straight. It's always there, sleep doesn't help, and it won't go away. Sometimes it's a dull ache(one that you can ignore), but other times it feels like I'm going to literally get sick because it hurts so bad. They already tried me on Midrin, which is a migraine medication. Didn't help the headaches at all, but I almost fell asleep in class multiple times(the 2 days I took them!) because it affected me so bad. However, they never warned me about drowsiness, so I would take it in the morning and drive to school. Apparently, it works within 10-15 minutes of taking it : O So, it was dangerous....

SORRY to drag on...my own bit of whining today I guess!

Hope you feel better real soon! Let us know....
Hannah
*still laughing with the thought of lil baby Camy running around!!!!*

I must admit, your symptoms sounded like a possible pregnancy to me, too. :) Of course, I have babies on the mind at the moment, what with gestating my own here.

I'm doing NaNoWriMo for the first time this year. I added you as a buddy (I'm "notjustmamie"). I'm finding it tough to focus on just writing and not getting all distracted by whatever other shiny objects catch my eye. Any ideas?

I too thought pregnancy, but then realized you are a pretty smart girl. I'm not a doctor but I really like to play one on the internet. My son had your same symptoms last spring, they tested him for mono, but it turned out to be a chronic sinus infection. Your symptoms are very concerning....sounds like mono or chronic fatigue to me.....hope you feel better soon!

Yeah NaNoWriMo! This year is my first attempt and I'm so excited! I've got 3500 words right now. I'm a new mommy so I'm operating on a personal goal of 30k words not the full challenge of 50k. Already it's the most I've ever written toward a novel!

Good luck with your project this month!

Hannah, I hope you're feeling better soon!

Amy--I am the queen of distractions! I will sometimes LOOK for things to distract myself. It's sad but true. My best advice is to take yourself away from it, if possible. I unplug myself from the internet and put in headphones so the outside world doesn't intrude. If you can't leave your house easily (sounds like it if you're gestating... :) take advantage of short time periods. Set things up so you can dive in when the time comes (like when the little one finally goes down for her nap). If you focus and know you only have a short period of time, sometimes that helps to not be distracted. And headphones are also good, if you can.

Audra--LOL everyone wants me to be pregnant! I don't think I have mono or chronic fatique--I have friends who had that, and my symptoms are not nearly that bad. Actually, I'm feeling better today, although still a bit tired.

Emily--Good for you! You can do it!

Toilet seat cover

Captain’s Log, Supplemental Update August 2008: I wrote up the pattern for this with "improvements"! Here's the link to my No Cold Bums toilet seat cover ! Okay, remember a few days ago I was complaining about the cold toilet seat in my bathroom? Well, I decided to knit a seat cover. Not a lid cover, but a seat cover. I went online and couldn’t find anything for the seat, just one pattern for the lid by Feminitz.com . However, I took her pattern for the inside edge of the lid cover and modified it to make a seat cover. Here it is! It’s really ugly stitch-wise because originally I made it too small and had to extend it a couple inches on each side. I figured I’d be the one staring at it, so who cared if the extension wasn’t perfectly invisible? I used acrylic yarn since, well, that’s what I had, and also because it’s easy to wash. I’ll probably have to wash this cover every week or so, but it’s easy to take off—I made ties which you can see near the back of the seat. And...

I sold to Steeple Hill!

Captain's Log, Supplemental Remember that romantic suspense proposal I blogged about earlier? Well, it just sold to Steeple Hill’s Love Inspired Suspense line! I am so jazzed! I am beyond jazzed! The story’s working title is Sinister Spa The story's title is Deadly Intent and here’s a blurb (but it’s probably not what will appear on the back of the book): Massage therapist Naomi Grant could use a massage herself. With her father at home recovering from a stroke, Naomi is put in charge of the family’s elite day spa in Sonoma county. The new responsibilities sit awkwardly on her shoulders, and things only get worse when handsome Dr. Devon Knightley breezes into the spa, demanding to see one of the female clients. And the woman is found dead in Naomi’s massage room. Suddenly, Naomi is a suspect and her family’s spa is shut down. How could God let this awful thing happen? Devon only needed to see his ex-wife about a family necklace she still hadn’t returned, but when she dies and...

Cover Reveal + New Logo for Year of the Dog, a Mahina Security Novel

A New Look for Year of the Dog (and a Behind-the-Scenes Oops!) What do a dog trainer, a security expert, and a nearly-naked book cover have in common? Let me explain. 😅 Year of the Dog is the first book in my Christian romantic suspense series, Mahina Security, set in beautiful (and sometimes dangerous) Hawaii. It features quirky humor, family tensions, sweet romance, and a mystery involving a missing person—and it’s now available to read in the Christian suspense anthology, Danger in the Shadows , on Kindle Unlimited ! But before that happened, I had a bit of a cover mishap… While creating the ebook cover, I realized that the original stock photo made my heroine look, well, completely nekkid. 😳 She’s actually wearing a tube top in the image, but when I cropped it for the ebook, the top disappeared—leaving her looking very PG-13. To fix it, I did some Canva magic on a strappy top from another image and stuck it onto the model (so she’s decent now). But when I resize...

No Cold Bums toilet seat cover

Captain's Log, Stardate 08.22.2008 I actually wrote out my pattern! I was getting a lot of hits on my infamous toilet seat cover , and I wanted to make a new one with “improvements,” so I paid attention and wrote things down as I made the new one. This was originally based off the Potty Mouth toilet cover , but I altered it to fit over the seat instead of the lid. Yarn: any worsted weight yarn, about 120 yards (this is a really tight number, I used exactly 118 yards. My suggestion is to make sure you have about 130 yards.) I suggest using acrylic yarn because you’re going to be washing this often. Needle: I used US 8, but you can use whatever needle size is recommended by the yarn you’re using. Gauge: Not that important. Mine was 4 sts/1 inch in garter stitch. 6 buttons (I used some leftover shell buttons I had in my stash) tapestry needle Crochet hook (optional) Cover: Using a provisional cast on, cast on 12 stitches. Work in garter st until liner measures...
