Captain's Log, Stardate 10.23.2009

Let me start off by saying that I’m normally not a games person. I’ve never really gotten into games, both computer games and regular games.

(Although I will confess that sometimes the games we played with the Junior High kids at church which involved inflicting physical pain and suffering on them was rather amusing to me, although I’m sure that says something frightening about me psychologically.)

All that aside, I am completed addicted to the Bejeweled Blitz game on Facebook. I don’t know why it is, because I wasn’t particularly good at Tetris back in the day, and this is a lot like Tetris.

Anything involving looking ahead and planning moves and logic is rather hard for me—it kind of makes my brain hurt—so why I like Bejeweled is a mystery.

Actually, I think I know why. High scoring moves involve lots of explosions and blowing up sounds. :) Camy likey explosions.

I'm addicted too! It's a fun game! Though I don't know how some people have scored over 2 million points! Wowza!

2 million points??? Holy guacamole! They must be the kind of gifted people who can decide what moves to make that would maximize point value, like they can see ahead a few moves and predict movements in their head fast enough to decide what to move when given several choices.

I have wasted WAY too many hours playing Bejeweled on Facebook. Unfortunately, I see many more hours in my future! Seeing that one of my friends is scoring higher sends me into a frenzy. Sigh. I love the explosions, too.

(At the bottom of the pattern is the calculation for the toe split if you're not using the same weight yarn that I did for this pattern (fingering). Grace Livingston Hill romances free to read online

I wanted to update my old post on Grace Livingston Hill romances because now there are tons more options for you to be able to read her books for free online! I’m a huge Grace Livingston Hill fan. Granted, not all her books resonate with me, but there are a few that I absolutely love, like The Enchanted Barn and Crimson Roses . And the best part is that she wrote over 100 books and I haven’t yet read them all! When I have time, I like to dive into a new GLH novel. I like the fact that most of them are romances, and I especially appreciate that they all have strong Christian themes. Occasionally the Christian content is a little heavy-handed for my taste, but it’s so interesting to see what the Christian faith was like in the early part of the 20th century. These books are often Cinderella-type stories or A Little Princess (Frances Hodgson Burnett) type stories, which I love.
