Sunday Prayer

Captain's Log, Stardate 08.09.2009

Leave any prayer requests in the comments and I’ll be praying this week. You don’t have to be Christian to leave a prayer request. If you’d rather not advertise to everyone on the blogosphere, just leave an unspoken prayer request or e-mail me. If I forgot your prayer request, email me. Not to be mean or anything, but if you don't email me or comment to update your prayer request, I'm only going to pray ONE Sunday.

I’m trying something new with my Sunday Prayer. I’m really bad about doing it on Sunday, so I’ll be updating it during the week.

Dear Lord, thank you for your grace.

I pray for complete healing for B., Malia, Cheryl, Sharon, Juanita, Lorna, Dr. Mathews, Becky, and Steve’s mom.

I also lift up any of my blog readers in need of physical, emotional, or spiritual healing and pray you will touch them.

Be with any blog readers who are out of a job or whose loved ones are unemployed. Please provide for their families and give stability.

Please give Sasafras wisdom in what to do with her mare. I pray you'll help her feel at peace whatever she decides.

I lift up an unspoken prayer request for Lisa (Facebook).

Be with Jeanette and give her wisdom and courage to make good decisions that follow in your will. Help her stay healthy and provide for her.

Thank you for guiding Captain Caffeine's job direction. Please help me continue with my weight loss and running training. Please also help me and guide me as I work on my new proposals. Guide my life, open and close doors, and lead me into what you want me to do.

Amen.

Hey Camy! Thanks for praying for me.

I have another update on my mare. She was looking worse last week, so I finally told my dad okay. I felt really peaceful about it, even though it still hurt, I knew it was going to be okay. But then the next day me and my mom went out there and mom told me that we were going to try and exhaust all options before we'd sell her, and so we moved her out of the pasture were she was getting gained up on by the other horses and into a stall in the barn. She's getting alfalfa (a high-protein hay) now, and has since last Tuesday, and she's looking like she feels better all ready. It'll still take time to put some weight back on her, but I think with all of your prayers, and by trusting that everything works for good even when I can't see it, God will take care of us.

Thanks again!

Hi!

Just wanted to say that I'm back behind the driver's wheel again. Unfortunately, not with an experienced instructor, but this time around I've got both my Dad and my Mom teaching me, and they're going slower and more consitent this time around. Please pray that I'll learn to be a safe and careful driver, oh! and a relaxed one.

Also, it looks like we may be making another play for our dream property. Please continue to pray that it works out according to God's will.

Thanks tons for all your prayers!

Thanks for all your prayers for my family, Camy. PLease continue to pray for them. I think I've been seeing a little bit of progress in a few of them, but I have a sister who makes a profession of faith, but seems to have no interest in deepening her relationship with Christ, and all that she does that makes her seem like she has that are all for show and glory. Also, I have a brother who has always struggled with assurance of his salvation. He loves God and wants to be close to Him, but he struggles with hearing Him and understanding His Word. There are others as well, but they seem to be progressing thanks to your prayers. BTW, I think they've been helping me too. I'm certainly no pedestal of righteousness myself. Please pray for my struggles too, that God would help me to come back to Him when I fail, and that He would continue to work in me.

Lavender hand lotion

Captain's Log, Stardate 11.05.2009 I have to tell you, I LOVE Etsy.com ! Etsy is dedicated to providing a marketplace for people who like to make handmade products and people who appreciate them (and buy them). It has everything from handmade gifts (like my mom’s Bucilla Christmas stockings and ornaments and tree skirts and wall hangings and … well, just click here to see what she has! ) to soaps and lotions and jewelry and knitted items and hand-painted yarn and ... I could surf that website for DAYS. Anyway, lately I’ve been concerned about the lead content in my lotions, especially since I’m using them more now that it’s turned colder and drier here in California. I have to use lotion on my hands everytime after I wash them. So I went onto Etsy and searched for organic hand lotions, and bought this lavender lotion from Lue Cosmetics . What was really nice is that the owner, Jane, sent me a direct message via Etsy right after I made the purchase to ask if I’d received it yet and ...

Grace Livingston Hill romances free to read online

I wanted to update my old post on Grace Livingston Hill romances because now there are tons more options for you to be able to read her books for free online! I’m a huge Grace Livingston Hill fan. Granted, not all her books resonate with me, but there are a few that I absolutely love, like The Enchanted Barn and Crimson Roses . And the best part is that she wrote over 100 books and I haven’t yet read them all! When I have time, I like to dive into a new GLH novel. I like the fact that most of them are romances, and I especially appreciate that they all have strong Christian themes. Occasionally the Christian content is a little heavy-handed for my taste, but it’s so interesting to see what the Christian faith was like in the early part of the 20th century. These books are often Cinderella-type stories or A Little Princess (Frances Hodgson Burnett) type stories, which I love. And the best part is that they’re all set in the early 1900s, so the time period is absolutely fasci...

Tabi socks, part deux

Captain's Log, Stardate 07.25.2008 (If you're on Ravelry, friend me! I'm camytang.) I made tabi socks again! (At the bottom of the pattern is the calculation for the toe split if you're not using the same weight yarn that I did for this pattern (fingering). I also give an example from when I used worsted weight yarn with this pattern.) I used Opal yarn, Petticoat colorway. It’s a finer yarn than my last pair of tabi socks, so I altered the pattern a bit. Okay, so here’s my first foray into giving a knitting pattern. Camy’s top-down Tabi Socks I’m assuming you already know the basics of knitting socks. If you’re a beginner, here are some great tutorials: Socks 101 How to Knit Socks The Sock Knitter’s Companion A video of turning the heel Sock Knitting Tips Yarn: I have used both fingering weight and worsted weight yarn with this pattern. You just change the number of cast on stitches according to your gauge and the circumference of your ankle. Th...
