Myrtle Leaf Shawl

Captain's Log, Stardate 06.12.2009

I finally finished this shawl! It’s from my favorite knitting book, Victorian Lace Today.






It’s knitted in the Lost Lake colorway of Knitpicks.com Shadow laceweight yarn (if you’re on Ravelry, you can see details by clicking here).

I guess I wasn’t really thinking, but the book says it should be blocked to a size of 21” x 76”. I ended up blocking it to 22” x 89”. But even if I blocked it to the published size, this shawl is way too long for me—I’m only 5’2”, and I have short legs for my height.

So I’ll probably give this away. I don’t know if Mount Hermon Christian Writers Conference would do this, but I wonder if they’ll let me donate this for a silent auction at next year’s conference?

Sorry I haven't been around in awhile. Visiting family, trying to sell the house, etc., so I just now got caught up.

That's absolutely beautiful craftmanship, or in this case, maybe knit-womanship? :P

I second Honey. You could try googling different ways to wear a scarf, but if you can't find anything you like, I suppose you could always use it as a table runner, lol

That is beautiful but is it knited, it looks croched to me, that is what I do. If you blocked it you can still redo it. just wet again and re-block smaller.
I love to crochet but have run out of anything to make, have made all my family everything they want.

Ooh, pretty!

But you're right--that's enormous. I'm 5'7" and I can't imagine what I'd do with a 7½ foot shawl. Makes a nice runner for the hallway, though. :)

Brainstorm - character occupation

Captain's Log, Stardate 03.23.2009 Hey guys, I could use some help. In my current manuscript, The Year of the Dog , which is a humorous contemporary romance, I have a minor character, Eddie. He’s my heroine’s ex-boyfriend, and they’re on good terms with each other. He’s a bit irresponsible, but not so much so that he’s a complete loser. He’s got a very easy going attitude, he forgets to pay his bills sometimes, he’s friendly and charming. He’s adventurous and fun to be around, but he’s a little forgetful sometimes, and he tends to spend a little outside his income. I need an occupation for him. Tabi socks, part deux

Captain's Log, Stardate 07.25.2008 (If you're on Ravelry, friend me! I'm camytang.) I made tabi socks again! (At the bottom of the pattern is the calculation for the toe split if you're not using the same weight yarn that I did for this pattern (fingering). I also give an example from when I used worsted weight yarn with this pattern.) I used Opal yarn, Petticoat colorway.
