Bible reading

Captain's Log, Stardate 11.04.2008

I finished Revelations yesterday, which marks the third time I’ve read through my entire Bible! Yay!

I am a bit ashamed to admit I’ve been a Christian since my teens, but I have only read through the entire Bible three times. That’s why I’m challenging the teens in my church to read their entire Bible by June 1st. (Want to join us?)

I really like the Bible in 90 Days because it gives me a page goal and a sense of accomplishment at the same time. And the Spirit often convicts me on at least one thing during my reading since I’m covering so many pages in a sitting.

I think I will use my NLT Bible for this next round (I just finished the last round with my TNIV Bible).

At some point I think I would also like to do a Bible study in Isaiah, because I really don’t understand that book very well. I might do a blog Bible study for that if some other people want to join me. I already have a book, Isaiah in the Lifechange series by NavPress. Is anyone interested?

wow. the Bible in 90 days. That's quite a feat. I'm doing the Chronological Bilbe in a year. We're nearing the end as we approach year's end. It's been amazing. I'm a Christian since high school, but have always been "choppy" in my Bible reading...so I'm excited to be making my way through it now.

Congrats on your reading, praise God.

have a great day.

Thanks, Lynn! It's actually not that amazing because I'm reading the Bible a bit faster than I would if I were only reading a passage or two. There's less time for reflection, but I find the Spirit speaks to me even though the pace is faster.

Wow! That's wonderful.
I've been a Christian since I was 9 years old and I've never read the entire bible. I know - that's sad.

Awesome! Since I got audio bibles, I've been much better about reading. (I'm very auditory.)

And I've never heard of this Bible in 90 Days thing. That sounds GREAT!

Debbie, join me on reading the Bible by June 1st!

Marcus, I love my audio Bibles! I have the Bible Experience--that's my favorite.

Congrats on finishing it!
And best wishes as you start again!

I've been a Christian since childhood and have read the Bible through a handful of times, but I'm not sure how many.

I've recently started again, and I'm in Deuteronomy now. I don't have any specific plan or set goal to finish by- with three kids five and under, I just go as far as I can before chaos ensues.

I am using a new study Bible, though, which I hadn't done before, so I'm getting lots of pearls from the historical notes and things like that.
I would do the Isaiah study online with you. I have the exact study already. ;) My oh my I am on Oct4 in a 365 day Bible. I cannot imagine reading the Bible in 90 days!

Hi Camy! I would love to delve deeper into Isaiah, seems interesting. I'll join you, of course :)

I also need to find a reading schedule and stick to it. I am still in Revelations(have been for three weeks)

Peace and Blessings,

SozinTara
I usually read from Genesis to Revelations, then repeat the New Testament before heading back to the start. I haven't counted how many times I've done this, but it's been years and years of nightly reading. It's like flossing: I can't sleep if I haven't done it!

I'm also listening to The Message in the car and love that translation.
I'm actually planning on starting this in January (great way to start the New Year with) and have heard a lot of great things about reading through the bible this way.

I actually did it again this year, although I took a bit longer. I'm in Galatians right now. I really love this!

No Cold Bums toilet seat cover

Captain's Log, Stardate 08.22.2008 I actually wrote out my pattern! I was getting a lot of hits on my infamous toilet seat cover , and I wanted to make a new one with “improvements,” so I paid attention and wrote things down as I made the new one. This was originally based off the Potty Mouth toilet cover , but I altered it to fit over the seat instead of the lid. Yarn: any worsted weight yarn, about 120 yards (this is a really tight number, I used exactly 118 yards. My suggestion is to make sure you have about 130 yards.) I suggest using acrylic yarn because you’re going to be washing this often. Needle: I used US 8, but you can use whatever needle size is recommended by the yarn you’re using. Gauge: Not that important. Mine was 4 sts/1 inch in garter stitch. 6 buttons (I used some leftover shell buttons I had in my stash) tapestry needle Crochet hook (optional) Cover: Using a provisional cast on, cast on 12 stitches. Work in garter st until liner measures

Save the Date - Camy's Patreon launch

My Patreon will launch in 2 weeks! I took all the results of the poll and I have hopefully created fun and appealing tiers. About my Patreon: I'm trying something new for the next 6-7 months. If it works, I'll continue, but if I end up not liking it, I'll stop it in September or October. I will be starting a monthly subscription membership on a new Patreon account. I will be posting the chapters of my current book ( Lady Wynwood’s Spies, volume 7 ) so you can read ahead of when the ebook will be edited and published. My current plan is to post 1-2 chapters weekly. One reason I’m switching things up is that I want to get closer to my readers and build a tighter, more intimate community with you. You can comment on each chapter of my book, give a reaction, ask a question, or even correct mistakes. My books will become a dialogue with you. If you subscribe to my Patreon, you'll be charged monthly and have access to all the benefits for the tier you subscribe to. Th

Toilet seat cover

Captain’s Log, Supplemental Update August 2008: I wrote up the pattern for this with "improvements"! Here's the link to my No Cold Bums toilet seat cover ! Okay, remember a few days ago I was complaining about the cold toilet seat in my bathroom? Well, I decided to knit a seat cover. Not a lid cover, but a seat cover. I went online and couldn’t find anything for the seat, just one pattern for the lid by Feminitz.com . However, I took her pattern for the inside edge of the lid cover and modified it to make a seat cover. Here it is! It’s really ugly stitch-wise because originally I made it too small and had to extend it a couple inches on each side. I figured I’d be the one staring at it, so who cared if the extension wasn’t perfectly invisible? I used acrylic yarn since, well, that’s what I had, and also because it’s easy to wash. I’ll probably have to wash this cover every week or so, but it’s easy to take off—I made ties which you can see near the back of the seat. And

What are you crafting today?

I’m not making anything special, just a ribbed top to match my ribbed skirt. It’s based off of a vintage pattern from the 1940s, but altered for my size. What are you making today? Post a comment!

What are you reading? A Thousand Li

At the moment, I’m reading the Chinese fantasy series, A Thousand Li by Tao Wong, set in a version of historical China. It’s what’s called a “Cultivation” novel where the character does some woo-woo stuff and moves energy around in his body and eventually is able to do some cool magic. I didn’t expect to like this series so much! The first book is a little weaker compared to the next several volumes, but it’s still very enjoyable, and I was hooked pretty easily. I’m listening to it on audiobook, and the narrator, Travis Baldree, is AMAZING! He does the Chinese names really well, and the different voices are fantastic. What are you reading today?

Matthew 11:28-30 Dear God, Thank you so much that we can come to you for help and rest. Help us to learn from you so that all we do is for you. Tabi socks, part deux

Captain's Log, Stardate 07.25.2008 (If you're on Ravelry, friend me! I'm camytang.) I made tabi socks again! (At the bottom of the pattern is the calculation for the toe split if you're not using the same weight yarn that I did for this pattern (fingering). I also give an example from when I used worsted weight yarn with this pattern.) I used Opal yarn, Petticoat colorway. It’s a finer yarn than my last pair of tabi socks, so I altered the pattern a bit. Okay, so here’s my first foray into giving a knitting pattern. Camy’s top-down Tabi Socks I’m assuming you already know the basics of knitting socks. If you’re a beginner, here are some great tutorials: Socks 101 How to Knit Socks The Sock Knitter’s Companion A video of turning the heel Sock Knitting Tips Yarn: I have used both fingering weight and worsted weight yarn with this pattern. You just change the number of cast on stitches according to your gauge and the circumference of your ankle. Th

I'm training for a marathon!

Captain's Log, Stardate 07.14.2010 This should not come as a surprise to you guys since I already blogged about how the Jeff Galloway Run-Walk method has enabled me to run injury-free and has also made me looooooove running ! I had mentioned the Disneyworld marathon in passing (only half-seriously) but then here's what happened. My parents wanted us to visit them in Hawaii for Thanksgiving, but tickets are something like $700 round trip PER PERSON (for Christmas, it's up to $900 round trip per person). Grandma offered to give us airline miles for one ticket, but we'd still have to come up with one ticket and Captain Caffeine had to take off work. I blogged earlier about talking with my Dad about the Jeff Galloway method , since Dad has been running since I was in middle school, and he was pretty excited to hear about me running, too. The next time I called home, the first thing Dad said was that I should run the Honolulu Marathon since it’s in early December
