A notorious gang puts a bounty on Detective Cady Matthews’s head after she takes down their leader, leaving her no choice but to hide until she can testify at trial. But her temporary home across the country on a remote North Carolina island isn’t as peaceful as she initially thinks. Living under the new identity of Cassidy Livingston, she struggles to keep her investigative skills tucked away, especially after a body washes ashore. When local police bungle the murder investigation, she can’t resist stepping in. But Cassidy is supposed to be keeping a low profile. One wrong move could lead to both her discovery and her demise. Can she bring justice to the island . . . or will the hidden currents surrounding her pull her under for good? Hidden Currents is the first book in the six-book Lantern Beach Mystery series. Each book contains a standalone mystery, but there are overarching mysteries within the entire series. Get it now for

Update: I also wrote out the pattern for a pair of tabi socks, or split-toe socks.
I can't help bragging a little. I just finished my first pair of toe socks (I have an unfinished pair of toe socks somewhere, but this is my first completed pair).
These are a belated (VERY belated) graduation present for one of my high school girls in the church youth group. She wanted toe socks in Slytherin colors.
I had a time finding superwash sock yarn in green and silver, and you can tell these are very different types of yarn (one is merino superwash, the other is a wool/elastic blend). But they knit up at the same gauge (almost) and look quite nice, if I say so myself.
They look a little creepy (almost like freaky alien hands). You can see the bump from the heel on the right sock.
I usedMichelle Cho's toe sock pattern Update: The previous link was taken down, but here's another that's actually a bit better: Unicornbooks.com toe socks pattern almost exactly (update: I forgot to mention that I knitted these top down rather than toe up the way Michelle did, but that's only because I personally dislike the way the heels look on toe up socks. Instead of decreasing at the base of the toes, I increased with M1 stitches. I put the stitches on a holder and knitted only a few stitches at a time for each toe. I knit the toes like she did.)--adjusting for a slight difference in gauge and wool elasticity.
Haha, let's hope they fit!

i am not a knitter and to have toes would make it hard i would think
I'm also a bit jealous of your knitting abilities. I have no idea how to knit.

Anyway, you are awesome. I bet she loves them--and AusJenny--if I'm not mistaken Slytherin refers to a house in Harry Potter and these are the colors of that house (at the school.) Am I right? Do I win?? (ha)
