I just finished writing Year of the Dog ! It had a massive plot hole that I had to fix which turned out to be more work than I expected. Here’s a snippet: “Hey, Auntie Nell.” He wrapped his arms around her, bussing her on the cheek and breathing in pikake flowers and shortbread cookies. And suddenly he was nine years old again, and her solid presence had made his chaotic world stable once more. “What are you doing here?” He usually took her to dinner on Wednesday nights, but today was Tuesday. The edges of her smile faltered a little before brightening right back up again. “What, I can’t visit my nephew?” She angled around him to enter his home. “Is this your new house? Writing: Today was a lazy day. I stayed up watching our Tivo’d shows, like Blade, Eureka, House, Justice, Bones, Standoff, Prison Break . . . I can’t remember which other ones. I had a great time in front of the TV. :) Back to work tomorrow.
What are you guys’ favorite TV shows? I can’t wait for 24 to start again.
Okay, I lied. I wasn’t totally lazy. I posted on the CAN Marketing Blog today about blog marketing for fiction writers.
Diet: And why was I lazy today? Because I had a tea lunch with my friend Charise at Lisa’s Tea Treasures tea house. It was so relaxing and cute and fun. Food was fabulous.
I had a wedge each of four different kinds of sandwiches, plus a scone, a mushroom cheese puff pastry, a chocolate-covered cream puff, a tiny chocolate tart, a Madeleine, and a gingerbread cookie. I didn’t eat it all, too—brought some home in a doggie bag.
I love the Devonshire cream they serve there. It’s delectable. And their strawberry jam and lemon spread is pretty darn good too.
But it was a bit expensive. Next time, Charise and I are going to have our own tea party at her house and bring our own food. I love tea and have the good loose-leaf stuff, and Charise has some good china she rarely uses.
