Sunday Prayer

Captain’s Log, Stardate 04.02.2006

Leave any prayer requests in the comments and I’ll be praying this week. You don’t have to be Christian to leave a prayer request. If you’d rather not advertise to everyone on the blogosphere, just leave an unspoken prayer request or email me. Not to be mean or anything, but if you don't email me or comment to update your prayer request, I'm only going to pray 3 Sundays.

Thank you, Lord, that we can draw close to you.

Please comfort all those who are grieving with your strength and peace.

Help Heather heal from her accident, and please give her more clients.

Please continue to heal Pammer’s finger and help her to push forward on her writing.

I pray for complete healing for Cheryl’s hip. Please give her and her doctors wisdom about what to do.

Please be with Dineen as she prepares for Mt. Hermon. Help her to submit to you in all things, and bless her abundantly.

Give peace and strength to Robin and her family. Lord, we pray for justice—please defend her family. I also pray you will open doors for her writing career.

Help Ronie’s unpacking go smoothly. Help her get back into a smooth rhythm.

Give Ron wisdom and time management.

I lift up Mir and her health. Please ease her pain and heal her. Give her energy and guide her in her writing.

Be with Sharon as she prepares for Mt. Hermon and I pray for a smooth, safe trip.

Prepare Lori for surgery on April 6th. Give skill and wisdom to her doctors, and I pray for a smooth and pain-free recovery. Calm her heart and help her to be a good patient.

Open doors for Gina’s writing and give her your guidance.

Please convict Paula’s family’s client to pay their overdue invoice. Lord, give Paula wisdom in her troubles. Give her strength, both physical and spiritual. Please also find a way to repair their van. Please continue to provide and bless her family. Open her heart to receive more and more of you.

Bless Megan’s writing time, Lord, and help her to work for your glory.

Please heal Malia’s knee and back, and work things out with her insurance company.

Thank you for being Lord our God.

Bible in 90 Days: Day 75. I love how the NTL makes Romans so much easier for me to comprehend. For some reason, in the NIV it was difficult for me to absorb the logic of Paul’s words. I have yet to get the new TNIV version, but the iPod audio version is being released soon, I think.

Writing: Got a little done on Friday, and took Saturday off. I hope to get some done today, but my first priority is getting everything ready for Mt. Hermon.

Diet: I was baaaaaaaaaad yesterday because I ate potato chips, and late at night, too. :( I had wor won ton soup for lunch today. Maybe I’ll be good and be able to have self control for dinner? It’ll be an easy version of coq au vin tonight.

Thanks, Camy, for your prayers for all of us. There has been a little bit of "easement" in my situation but I feel I need a lot more to feel really comfortable again. I'm waiting on Him to show me the right time and the words He wants me to use.

I'll definitely add my prayers to yours for all the rest of the people needing God's special guidance and care.

May He give you the strength and grace to complete your manuscript by the date you are hoping for and give you much encouragement during this week's conference. His blessing on you and yours.
Thanks again for the prayer, girl! I love it when you do that. Hugs!

Mansfield Park (BBC 1986)

Captain’s Log, Supplemental Blog book giveaway: To enter, go to the blog links below and post a comment there. Valley of Betrayal by Tricia Goyer It Happens Every Spring by Gary Chapman and Catherine Palmer Jane Austen miniseries I love Jane Austen. She’s my favorite classic writer, and I even bought audiobooks of her novels and listen to them again and again. I also love Amazon.com and visit my Gold Box every day (not that I buy that often). One day I had a deal for the entire set of DVDs of miniseries produced by BBC of Jane Austen’s novels. No, I didn’t buy the set—but it made me curious, and so I put the miniseries on my Netflix queue. The miniseries are all rather old. I just finished Mansfield Park . I’m quite divided on it. Costumes: score 4. They were mostly really rather nice, appropriate to the character’s background and income, and not too flamboyant, although there were several places the women’s headgear was just way over the top. Acting: score 4. I l...

Tabi socks, part deux

Captain's Log, Stardate 07.25.2008 (If you're on Ravelry, friend me! I'm camytang.) I made tabi socks again! (At the bottom of the pattern is the calculation for the toe split if you're not using the same weight yarn that I did for this pattern (fingering). I also give an example from when I used worsted weight yarn with this pattern.) I used Opal yarn, Petticoat colorway. It’s a finer yarn than my last pair of tabi socks, so I altered the pattern a bit. Okay, so here’s my first foray into giving a knitting pattern. Camy’s top-down Tabi Socks I’m assuming you already know the basics of knitting socks. If you’re a beginner, here are some great tutorials: Socks 101 How to Knit Socks The Sock Knitter’s Companion A video of turning the heel Sock Knitting Tips Yarn: I have used both fingering weight and worsted weight yarn with this pattern. You just change the number of cast on stitches according to your gauge and the circumference of your ankle. Th...

How to Start the Lady Wynwood’s Spies Series (with Free Prequels & Bonus Extras)

New to Lady Wynwood’s Spies? Start Here I’m a fan of both Pride and Prejudice and Mission: Impossible , and I loved the idea of noblewomen working as undercover agents, so I wrote this Christian Regency romantic suspense series for readers just like me. Lady Wynwood’s Spies is a multi-volume adventure filled with faith, suspense, and romance. Unlike many historical romances that stand alone, each volume continues a larger story, pulling you further into the same grand conspiracy. Along the way, the series draws you deeper into the characters’ struggles and triumphs, giving you a richer, more immersive experience. If you love stories where you don’t have to say goodbye to the characters after just one book, this series was written for you. Below is your complete reader guide to the books, prequels, bonus content, and behind-the-scenes extras. Whether you’re just curious or ready to dive in, this roadmap will help you find the perfect place to start. ✨ Lady Wynwood’s Spies Reader...

Grace Livingston Hill romances free to read online

I wanted to update my old post on Grace Livingston Hill romances because now there are tons more options for you to be able to read her books for free online! I’m a huge Grace Livingston Hill fan. Granted, not all her books resonate with me, but there are a few that I absolutely love, like The Enchanted Barn and Crimson Roses . And the best part is that she wrote over 100 books and I haven’t yet read them all! When I have time, I like to dive into a new GLH novel. I like the fact that most of them are romances, and I especially appreciate that they all have strong Christian themes. Occasionally the Christian content is a little heavy-handed for my taste, but it’s so interesting to see what the Christian faith was like in the early part of the 20th century. These books are often Cinderella-type stories or A Little Princess (Frances Hodgson Burnett) type stories, which I love. And the best part is that they’re all set in the early 1900s, so the time period is absolutely fasci...
