I just finished writing Year of the Dog ! It had a massive plot hole that I had to fix which turned out to be more work than I expected. Here’s a snippet: “Hey, Auntie Nell.” He wrapped his arms around her, bussing her on the cheek and breathing in pikake flowers and shortbread cookies. And suddenly he was nine years old again, and her solid presence had made his chaotic world stable once more. “What are you doing here?” He usually took her to dinner on Wednesday nights, but today was Tuesday. The edges of her smile faltered a little before brightening right back up again. “What, I can’t visit my nephew?” She angled around him to enter his home. “Is this your new house? Looks lovely.” Which was a blatant lie, because the fixer-upper was barely livable, much less acceptable to a neat-freak like his aunt. She also left four matching pink and purple floral suitcases on the stoop behind her. Only then did Ashwin notice the cab driver standing slightly to the side of the walkway. “Can ...

Blog book giveaway: Oops, other things derailed my Thursday book giveaway, but I just realized I shouldn’t hold it today since I won’t be in town next week Thursday—I’ll be at the Mt. Hermon Christian Writers Conference in Santa Cruz until the following Tuesday. So instead, look for a book giveaway on Monday, April 3rd I’ll be interviewing Carrie Turansky and giving away an autographed copy of her book ALONG CAME LOVE.
The winner of REASONABLE DOUBT is:
Katie Hart
Congratulations!
Squirl’s Blush and Cringe: My friend Cheryl Wyatt has her infamous “Blush and Cringe” on her blog, in which she confesses to all blogdom her embarrassing moments. I certainly wouldn’t be that crazy—er, transparent, but this week her discussion topic is your most embarrassing moment at a conference.
Want to know mine? Check out her blog and look for my story in the comments.
St. Theresa’s prayer: I got this from Megan and this prayer really touched me.
May today there be peace within.
May you trust God that you are exactly where you are meant to be.
May you not forget the infinite possibilities that are born of faith.
May you use those gifts that you have received, and pass on the love that
has been given to you.... May you be content knowing you are a child of
God....
Let this presence settle into your bones, and allow your soul the freedom to
sing, dance, praise and love. It is there for each and everyone of us.
Bible in 90 Days: Day 73. I think I’m on day 73. I only missed one day this week—Tuesday—for obvious reasons. I’m in Acts and totally LOVING how the church expanded. They had such fire! I want that, too. I think I will pray for it (Whoa! Dangerous, exciting ground!).
Writing: Working on my scene index. I’m changing my writing “rest” day to Saturdays instead of Sundays since I never have time to write on Saturdays anyway with Youth Group and other errands. I hope to finish the scene index by Tuesday. I’m still aiming to finish this manuscript by April 30th.
Diet: I’m not doing too badly calorie-wise. Despite the celebratory Mexican food yesterday for lunch, I had soup and a slice of oatmeal bread for dinner—what self-control! Woot!Woot! One of the aides at PT brought me Portuguese rolls from this authentic bakery in Santa Clara, so I had a really terrific tuna-fish sandwich at lunch, with lots of celery. Dinner will be Black Angus, but I’ll try for self-control there, too. I had a good PT session today, so I might be okay.
