Captain’s Log, Stardate 01.01.05
I just learned on my writer’s discussion loop that writers should document the amount of time spent writing each year. Apparently the IRS requires at least 500 hours spent on writing for you to qualify as your own business. So I started a writing time log. How fortuitous that I learned this today and can now start documentation for 2005. I hope I have enough hours for 2004.
My husband and I went to Sportmart to take advantage of a 25% off coupon, but I went primarily to look at exercise bikes. The cheaper ones tended to feel more flimsy, while even the expensive ones didn’t always have a comfortable seat. One upright bike felt very sturdy, but the recumbent seat is better for my back, and my husband's too.
We could both use an exercise bike, actually, but I don’t know if my husband would actually use it. I’m hoping I would actually use it! He’s not completely sold on the idea. My knee felt really good while I was on the bikes at Sportmart, but when I tried the elliptical machine, I had too much pain. Not ready for that yet.
We didn’t buy a bike, but maybe he’ll take me to other stores to try out the different bikes. I think that’s the way to go in buying one. After trying all those bikes and having a hard time finding one I liked, I don’t want to risk buying one online.
Writing: Yesterday I actually got two pages done on my manuscript (49-51). Maybe I can get more done today. And I forgot to do my Real Life Q&A, so I need to do that right now.
Diet: Last night, my husband (the darling) brought home for me a peanut butter milkshake, ordered just for me, and some leftover fries and onion rings from
