Excerpt - A SOLDIER'S DEVOTION by Cheryl Wyatt

A Soldier's Devotion by Cheryl Wyatt U.S. Air Force pararescue jumper Vince Reardon was headed to a lifesaving mission. Until a too-pretty lawyer crashed her fancy car into his motorcycle—sidelining him for two weeks. Vince can barely accept Valentina Russo's heartfelt apologies. Ever since his brother was wrongly convicted—and killed in prison—Vince has lost respect for lawyers. But wait—is that Val volunteering at his refuge for underprivileged kids? If Vince isn't careful, this lady of the law might just earn his respect and his heart. Excerpt of chapter one: This is the second-worst day of my life. U.S. Air Force Pararescue Jumper Vince Reardon lay pressed to wet asphalt. Rain pelted his face. The woman who'd seconds ago smashed her sizzling-red sedan into his chrome-and-black-lacquered motorcycle hovered in his periphery. Smoky eyes bulged with worry from a trepid face that begged him not to be mad. "I'm sorry! I'm so sorry." "...

Pink Sunshine Shawl

Captain's Log, Stardate 01.06.2010 While in Arizona, I visited three knitting stores (all I had time and money for, unfortunately!) and bought this gorgeous yarn by Colinette. The model had this silk colorway with a pink mohair, which made it more pink than I wanted because I already have a very pink shawl and while I love pink, I wanted something both dramatic and different from, well, pink. So I paired this mostly pink silk colorway yarn with a greenish yellow mohair to get this gorgeous shawl that looks like pink sunshine! If you’re on Ravelry, you can see my more detailed notes here . Here’s the shawl! Isn’t it pretty? The mohair makes it very light and airy, while the silk gives it beautiful drape. I edged it with gold glass beads.

Dim sum in Arizona

Captain's Log, Stardate 01.04.2009 Happy New Year! We went to Arizona for Christmas to visit family. We went to dim sum with my husband's relatives while we were in Arizona. I love Chinese dim sum--it's yummy! Here's some pictures: Here's the spread, although we did get several other dishes after this picture was taken, too, so there was even more food! I have to admit I don't really know what most of this stuff is, just that it tasted good. Captain Caffeine's plate. Looks like he had: top row, L-R: I'm not sure what that first thing is, it might be char siu (marinated roast pork), the next thing is a yummy large noodle wrapped around roast pork or beef or shrimp in a soy sauce, then crispy roast pork (the square thing at top right); bottom row, L-R: siu mai (pork and shrimp dumpling), har gow (shrimp dumpling, one of my favs), tripe (tasty but not to everyone's liking, bottom right). Here's a close up of the tripe. Behind it is chow ...

New Years Resolutions

Captain's Log, Stardate 12.30.2009 I'm over at the Steeple Hill Love Inspired authors blog today! Camy here! What are your New Years resolutions? I was talking to a friend who said that it’s better to have only one resolution. Apparently, having too many makes our minds unfocused and we end up not keeping any of them, but if we have only one, we can focus and are more likely to keep it. That makes sense to me.
