Camy’s Running Cam-y-ra

I’ve had a lot of guest blogs and giveaways lately and I haven’t been blogging anything personal, so I thought I’d devote some time today just to say hi to everyone.

I don’t remember if I mentioned this already, but I’m training to run the Honolulu Marathon in December. I already registered so there’s no going back! This past Saturday I ran 10 miles! Woot! Pretty good for an old lady!

I’ve also started posting on my Facebook page what I call my “Running Cam-y-ra,” pictures I take when I’m running. (Get it? Running Camy-ra/camera? … {crickets chirp}) I’ve been posting them on Facebook. So far a lot of what I post are pretty flowers I don’t know the names of, and people have been really great about identifying them. Facebook is better than Google!

Here’s one I just posted on Saturday. I didn’t know until people started commenting on Facebook that they’re cannas. Aren’t they pretty?



So what do you think of the Running Cam-y-ra? And while I’m at it, what do you think of the giveaways and guest blogs I’ve been doing? Likey or no likey?

I'm okay with guest post and giveaways. But I did miss your posts and wondered where you were though. I would like to see some of your books up for giveaways in the future.

I must have overlooked running post I didn't see it on FB. Are you still on Spark People? Sometimes I think about joining?

Oh yeah, I saw your latest book in the teen section at Family Christian Bookstore. That was after looking everywhere else in the store. Then I stumbled upon it. That series is still on my wish list. I know where one of the books is when ever I'm able to get it.

How interesting it was in the teen section! I wrote it so that any teenager could read it, but the issues in it are more for adults than high schoolers.

I love the guest posts and giveaways and also like Melody enjoy your blog. I love the Camy-ra. Kudos to you for running a marathon, that's pretty ambitious but I'm sure you are up for it. My son runs marathons and I'm impressed. It's on my to do list some day.

Thanks, Kathy! Yes that was my thinking, I wanted to run a marathon someday, and then I decided, why not do it while I could still walk? LOL

Now I see the Running Camy-ra pics. I do like them. Great outdoor scenes. I didn't know what the reddish flower was. Bur there was no mistaken the Honeysuckle. Like others have said you can suckle the nectar out of it. We did when we were kids. They are not common where you live? Here they are everywhere. The greenery looked so healthy and the baby duck was cute. Keep us posted on your progress.

I think your book was in the teen section because of the cover. It doesn't look like the typical adult Christian novel cover.

No, I'd never seen or smelled honeysuckle before! There are some white flowers here that are similar, but they don't smell as good and they don't look quite the same.

Captain's Log, Stardate 03.23.2009 Hey guys, I could use some help. In my current manuscript, The Year of the Dog , which is a humorous contemporary romance, I have a minor character, Eddie. He’s my heroine’s ex-boyfriend, and they’re on good terms with each other. He’s a bit irresponsible, but not so much so that he’s a complete loser. Window shopping

Captain’s Log, Stardate 03.14.2005 Knee update: I went to the doctor today for a checkup, and saw his assistant. I’ve been concerned because there’s still inflammation in my knee joint, and it’s been almost 4 months since the surgery. She said she’d talk to the doctor about it tomorrow and call me. Sometimes he suggests laying off the PT to see if that causes the inflammation to go away, but I don’t know if that will work because lately I’ve been pretty active outside of PT. At PT today, the therapist did ultrasound and some sort of electrical current on the joint. Hopefully that will make the inflammation start to go down. I’ll know by tomorrow, probably. Writing: Mt. Hermon conference starts this Friday! On Thursday night, I’ll be at the Santana Row Borders bookstore to help out (and hopefully learn a bit, too) at a booksigning for several of the ACFW authors who are attending Mt. Hermon . I GOT A CONTRACT!

Captain’s Log, Stardate 03.29.2006 I had a wonderfully funny blog post planned for today, but I got sidetracked by some news yesterday! Zondervan has offered me a three-book contract on my Asian chick-lit series ! I’m still stunned by everything that’s happened. The series is actually a 4-book projected Asian chick-lit series about four cousins who fall under the infamous family title "Oldest Single Female Cousin," and their ruthless, wealthy grandma applies pressure on each of them to improve their lack of love interests. I think the first book is tentatively scheduled to be released in August 2007. The blurb on the series is on my website here . Favorite chocolate?

Captain's Log, Stardate 04.22.2008 Lately I’ve been on this chocolate kick. Normally, I’m not a huge chocoholic like Captain Caffeine. I enjoy chocolate, but if given a choice, I’ll usually choose a fruit or custard/creamy dessert over a triple decadence chocolate layer cake or a chocolate-lovers’ downfall brownie. But lately, I’ve been eating dark chocolate squares. I think it started when I went into Joseph Schmidt gourmet chocolate shop in Santana Row. We’d gotten Joseph Schmidt truffles for Christmas, and they’d been fabulous—I can honestly say that they were as good as DeBrand truffles (author Colleen Coble’s favorite). So when I saw the brick and mortar shop in Santana Row, I went in immediately. Inside, this man was buying up stacks—and I kid you not, stacks —of the Joseph Schmidt Belgian Dark Chocolate bars. Tabi socks, part deux

Captain's Log, Stardate 07.25.2008 (If you're on Ravelry, friend me! I'm camytang.) I made tabi socks again! (At the bottom of the pattern is the calculation for the toe split if you're not using the same weight yarn that I did for this pattern (fingering). I also give an example from when I used worsted weight yarn with this pattern.) I used Opal yarn, Petticoat colorway. It’s a finer yarn than my last pair of tabi socks, so I altered the pattern a bit. Okay, so here’s my first foray into giving a knitting pattern.
