Writing Progress - Sushi and Suspicions is done!

I finished writing Sushi and Suspicions and turned it in! To celebrate, I ate my favorite peach jelly from Minamoto Kichoan ! I was a bit surprised to realize at the end of the book that there wasn’t as much romance as in some of my other books, maybe because there were a lot of characters in this book compared to other romantic suspense novels I’ve written. Sushi and Suspicions will be releasing in June in the multi-author box set Summer Suspicions . Even though it’s a box set, each Christian Romantic Suspense novel in it is a full book, so it’s a great deal! Preorder Summer Suspicions for only 99 cents!

Ashlyn's Yoga Bag knitting pattern w/ @KnitPicks Dishie

Jaycee Weaver is one of the twelve authors who participated with me in the Christian Contemporary Romance anthology, Save the Date . Jaycee’s novella in the anthology is titled Braver With You . In celebration, I wrote a knitting pattern for the yoga mat bag used by Jaycee’s heroine, Ashlyn. Update 2022: The Save the Date anthology is now out of print, but Jaycee’s novella is available individually on Kindle! (In case you missed it, here are the links for my interview with Jaycee part 1 and part 2 , and an excerpt of one of Jaycee’s other books, Whatever Comes Our Way .) This yoga mat bag for Jaycee Weaver’s heroine, Ashlyn, is both pretty and practical. I made the base of the bag a little large, so that it will fit a variety of lengths of mat, and my husband (who does yoga every week) says that a larger base helps protect his mat a little better when he has to walk or bike with it to his yoga class. My husband’s mat was extra-thick so it was a slightly snugger fit than my o

Lady Wynwood's Spies 2 - cover character

For the cover of Lady Wynwood’s Spies, volume 2: Berserker , the cover model is supposed to be Mr. Septimus Ackett. The model’s name is Andrey, and here’s the original stock photo . I was looking for a model that encompassed his quiet personality, lean figure and dark looks, and I think Andrey in this pose matches him pretty well. It was a choice between Sep and Thorne for this cover, since they both have a lot happening to them in this book, but I eventually chose Sep since he kind of gets the short end of the stick. Poor guy! Also, I have a future book plotted where Thorne is more prominent, so I’ll probably have him (and Isabella too) on another cover eventually.

Sushi for One in Japanese is here!

I can’t begin to tell you how excited I am about this! My debut novel, Sushi for One , has been translated into Japanese and is now available in ebook! The ebook is only 99 cents (or 99 yen in Japan) because I wanted this to be accessible to as many Japanese-speaking women as possible. You can buy the ebook on Kindle , Apple Books , Kobo/Rakuten , and Google Play . The print book is coming soon—I still have to have a proof mailed to me so I can check it out before I approve the final book files. I’m publishing this through Lightning Source and (unlike KDP) they charge me if I make any changes after I approve the book files, so I have to be sure the end product doesn’t have any weird errors from their system. This has been SUCH a huge project! My translator ROCKS. She also found a proofreader who has been so helpful in pointing out what needs to be adjusted for Japanese publishing standards. I blogged about the translation process, in case anyone is interested. It’s been reall

Interview with Jaycee Weaver part 2

I’m back with the second part of my interview with Jaycee Weaver! Jaycees’ Bio: Jaycee Weaver lives in Albuquerque, New Mexico, with her awesome husband, three daughters, two crazy Shih Tzus, and a dwarf rabbit. When she’s not writing, she’s busy balancing the mom-wife life. Jaycee loves to read books in multiple genres, drink too much coffee (honestly, when are they going to make the coffee IV a real thing?!), sing, take landscape and floral photos, sew, cook, bake, and craft nearly anything. She considers herself a recovering perfectionist and sometimes hot mess. She does her best to live her faith in action, being open, honest, and real; letting God be Lord over the good, the bad, and the ugly even when it’s hard. Camy here: Jaycee is one of the twelve authors participating with me in the Christian Contemporary Romance anthology, Save the Date , which releases September 15! If you haven’t yet, be sure to preorder Save the Date for only 99 cents! The price will go up after

Excerpt - WHATEVER COMES OUR WAY (Christian Contemporary Romance)

Today I’m posting an excerpt of Jaycee Weaver’s Christian Contemporary Romance, Whatever Comes Our Way . Back cover description: When two overcomers find common ground in their faith, they can handle whatever comes their way . Gina Hernandez is no stranger to hard work—she’s got three jobs to prove it. Trauma in her teens may have left her with severe anxiety and some body image issues, but no one can say she’s not a fighter. It’s made her strong…and maybe a little snarky. Then she meets youth pastor Jaydon Bennett, a gentle giant with a big beard and an even bigger heart—though he, too, has a few scars. He’s never doubted God could bring him the perfect woman, he just never thought He really would. Until Gina. United to help a troubled teen whose family is in crisis, Jaydon and Gina set out to discover that the painful pasts they’ve been dealing with just might uniquely equip them to help this hurting family. The Everyday Love Series is a clean, inspirational contemporary

Keriah’s Pyrennees Shawl knitting pattern w/ @knitpicks Palette

Why I knit this shawl: I wanted to knit the sunset-colored shawl Keriah was wearing in chapter 5 of my book, Lady Wynwood’s Spies, volume 2: Berserker , so I looked for an antique pattern that might have been used during the Regency era. This one caught my eye, even though it was published in a knitting book a few decades later than the Regency era. The Spider-Net border pattern was most definitely in use in the Regency period, but it’s also remotely possible that the Alice-Maud stitch and the lacy border stitch patterns were also in use during the Regency, being passed on from knitter to knitter via hand-written receipts, by verbal instruction, or with knitted sampler squares (like how many Shetland lace patterns and Bavarian cable patterns were shared). My/Keriah’s version of this shawl would have been lacy but warm because it is knit with fingering yarn on small needles. Since Keriah was cold, I think she would have grabbed this shawl rather than something more elegant and airy.
