Verizon’s new phone plans

Okay, this is my geek side coming out: I’m pretty excited to see what the new cell phone plans from Verizon will look like. The biggest change will be the ability to allow my phone to be a Wi-Fi hotspot for my iPad for no extra charge. That will be so cool!

Most of the time I use Wi-Fi, but once in a while I’m stuck somewhere without Wi-Fi and I need to access the internet. I usually use my phone, but I’d love to be able to use my iPad.

Do you have a smartphone? Do you use it to connect to the internet very much?

(My lovely assistant is Danica Favorite, except that now I can't remember what was on her smart phone that made her want me to take a picture of it.)

I don't know what the payment plan was like before but it sure sounds pricey to me! Of course I'm just breaking into the whole smartphone thing since my son bought one for me and I'm on a very limited plan so I don't do all that much, but it when I heard the pricing on the news it sounded like they're charging extra for a bunch of different things. Maybe I just don't know the plans...if you're happy, I'm happy!

Do you know if it works as a hotspot only if you are using it with an apple computer? The person I talked to said it would be extra to make it work as a hot spot?

I called them today to figure out if we'll be better off with our current plan or wait for the new plans. We have one phone with the unlimited data plan so it looks like we're going to stay on the old plan as long as we can...

Smartphone plans ARE pricey, but then I used my smartphone a ton in New York City and never want to go back! Being able to access the internet and maps at any time is absolutely fantastic.

According to the article:

Under "Share Everything," Verizon will stop charging extra for letting devices act as "mobile Wi-Fi hotspots." That means subscribers who have a recent smartphone could use it to connect a tablet to the Internet, without paying the extra $10 per month for a tablet.

I'd been considering spending the extra to allow my phone to become a hotspot, but if this is true, then now I won't need to.

Brainstorm - character occupation

Captain's Log, Stardate 03.23.2009 Hey guys, I could use some help. In my current manuscript, The Year of the Dog , which is a humorous contemporary romance, I have a minor character, Eddie. He’s my heroine’s ex-boyfriend, and they’re on good terms with each other. He’s a bit irresponsible, but not so much so that he’s a complete loser. He’s got a very easy going attitude, he forgets to pay his bills sometimes, he’s friendly and charming. He’s adventurous and fun to be around, but he’s a little forgetful sometimes, and he tends to spend a little outside his income. I need an occupation for him. Lavender hand lotion

Etsy is dedicated to providing a marketplace for people who like to make handmade products and people who appreciate them (and buy them). Tabi socks, part deux

Captain's Log, Stardate 07.25.2008 (If you're on Ravelry, friend me! I'm camytang.) I made tabi socks again! (At the bottom of the pattern is the calculation for the toe split if you're not using the same weight yarn that I did for this pattern (fingering). In response to the outcry, Zondervan/Youth Specialities put out a sincere apology and is not only freezing the remaining stock of the book, but also reprinting it and replacing the copies people have already bought. I am very proud of my publisher for how they have handled this situation. The skit writers have also issued a public apology .
