Lady Wynwood #7 early release Kickstarter

I worked on my first Kickstarter and it got approved! It’s for the Special Edition Hardcover of Lady Wynwood’s Spies, volume 1: Archer and the release of Lady Wynwood’s Spies, volume 7: Spinster. I contacted my graphic designer about the Special Edition Hardcover of vol. 1: Archer—it’s going to be SO beautiful! The Kickstarter focuses on the Special Edition Hardcover, but it’ll also include vol. 7: Spinster so that it’ll sort of be like a launch day for vol. 7, too. A third special thing that’ll be in the Kickstarter is Special Edition Paperbacks of all the books in the series. They won’t be available in stores, just in the Kickstarter (and later, from my website, and also in my Patreon book box tiers if I decide to do them). The Kickstarter is not live yet, but you can follow it to be alerted when it has launched. (You may need to create a free Kickstarter account.) Follow Camy’s Kickstarter

Saline sprays?

Captain's Log, Supplemental

Okay, so this might be TMI, but Captain Caffeine snores loud enough to wake the dog.

He finally went to the doctor, who prescribed both an allergy spray and a saline spray for his nose.

Now, I use a homemade saline spray to help me with my sinus allergies. It's just 1/4 teaspoon of salt in 4 ounces of boiling water, cooled and poured into an old contact lens solution bottle so I can squirt it up my nose (maybe that really is TMI).

However, the saline spray prescribed for Captain Caffeine is this tiny packet he dissolves in 8 ounces of water, and he's supposed to discard the excess after using it just once! Talk about a rip off!

He looked online and lots of recipes recommend sea salt or pickling salt, plus baking power or baking soda (I don't remember which).

Do you guys have any recommendations? Why sea salt or pickling salt? Can't he use kosher salt? And why the baking powder/soda? Have you heard any other recipes for this stuff?

On the snoring front, his doctor's trying to get our insurance to approve a night at a sleep lab. He's got sleep apnea and I'm very glad he's finally going to a sleep lab. Hopefully they can find out what can be done to help him get a better night's sleep.

I don't know about the salts and such but I hope Captain Caffeine can get some help with his sleep apnea.

Well, since I'm gross too, I'll tell you why he should dump the stuff out. Bacteria. Yep. You put it up your nose, little bacteria transfers to your nose medicine and now you've got a little germ colony growing in your medicine. ICK

The best thing to do is just make a fresh saline every day and snort it up there.

There's a good book, called Sinus Survival, that talks about some of this stuff. It helped a lot with my sinus issues. I'd send it to you, but I have no idea where it's packed.

How weird that of all the posts to comment on, it'd be this one.

I do the sinus rinse stuff daily too and it's been a life saver on my sinus infections. Personally, I use the premixed stuff from www.sinusrinse.com. I like it because it's easy and pretty cheap. But I made it myself for years. The baking soda has to do with the ph balance and making the mucus membranes more inhospitable to bacteria or something, if I remember correctly how my allergist explained it.

I'm also a faithful Sinus Rinse user (the packaged kit mentioned by Jennifer, available at most drugstores--starter kit and refills). My allergist recommended it last spring, and it helps TONS by rinsing out pollutants, allergens, and, uh, all that other yucky stuff up there. My hubby is an occasional snorer, too, and I got him to try it a few weeks ago. It has actually made a difference for the better.

has anyone ever tried Sinol? I read it's ingredients and it's all natural...the main ingredient is from cayanne pepper...have you tried it and had success? Please let me know...I only like to take meds with all natural ingredients.

Thanks
Ally
My husband tested positive for sleep apnea in a lab. Do you know what happens then? You should warn CC! The next step is to sleep every night with a mask on that regulates the amount of oxygen he gets every night, indefinitely. You will never sleep better. He might find it uncomfortable at first, but every one is much happier afterward.

Grace Livingston Hill romances free on Google Books

I wanted to update my old post on Grace Livingston Hill romances because now there are tons more options for you to be able to read her books for free online! I’m a huge Grace Livingston Hill fan. Granted, not all her books resonate with me, but there are a few that I absolutely love, like The Enchanted Barn and Crimson Roses . And the best part is that she wrote over 100 books and I haven’t yet read them all! When I have time, I like to dive into a new GLH novel. I like the fact that most of them are romances, and I especially appreciate that they all have strong Christian themes. Occasionally the Christian content is a little heavy-handed for my taste, but it’s so interesting to see what the Christian faith was like in the early part of the 20th century. These books are often Cinderella-type stories or A Little Princess (Frances Hodgson Burnett) type stories, which I love. And the best part is that they’re all set in the early 1900s, so the time period is absolutely fasci

No Cold Bums toilet seat cover

Captain's Log, Stardate 08.22.2008 I actually wrote out my pattern! I was getting a lot of hits on my infamous toilet seat cover , and I wanted to make a new one with “improvements,” so I paid attention and wrote things down as I made the new one. This was originally based off the Potty Mouth toilet cover , but I altered it to fit over the seat instead of the lid. Yarn: any worsted weight yarn, about 120 yards (this is a really tight number, I used exactly 118 yards. My suggestion is to make sure you have about 130 yards.) I suggest using acrylic yarn because you’re going to be washing this often. Needle: I used US 8, but you can use whatever needle size is recommended by the yarn you’re using. Gauge: Not that important. Mine was 4 sts/1 inch in garter stitch. 6 buttons (I used some leftover shell buttons I had in my stash) tapestry needle Crochet hook (optional) Cover: Using a provisional cast on, cast on 12 stitches. Work in garter st until liner measures

What are you reading?

What I’m reading: If the Villainess and Villain Met and Fell in Love (Light Novel), Vol. 1 by Harunadon SOMETIMES FIRE AND ICE ARE PERFECT FOR EACH OTHER. Brigitte Meidell belongs to a noble family, which means high expectations were placed upon her spirit contract. However, her bonded spirit turned out to be a weak no-name, and ever since, she has been a source of shame to her family. She thought her engagement to the prince would turn her life around, but when he publicly breaks off their relationship, she finds herself alone again. After her haughty, villainous behavior as the prince’s bride-to-be, no one shows her much sympathy―except for the duke’s son Yuri, who attends the same magic academy. Yuri is feared for his incredible abilities and icy personality, but with him on her side, her fortunes might have changed... I read this book last month but forgot to post about it. I absolutely love this series! The heroine has such a deep backstory and a plausible reason for her previ

Tabi socks, part deux

Captain's Log, Stardate 07.25.2008 (If you're on Ravelry, friend me! I'm camytang.) I made tabi socks again! (At the bottom of the pattern is the calculation for the toe split if you're not using the same weight yarn that I did for this pattern (fingering). I also give an example from when I used worsted weight yarn with this pattern.) I used Opal yarn, Petticoat colorway. It’s a finer yarn than my last pair of tabi socks, so I altered the pattern a bit. Okay, so here’s my first foray into giving a knitting pattern. Camy’s top-down Tabi Socks I’m assuming you already know the basics of knitting socks. If you’re a beginner, here are some great tutorials: Socks 101 How to Knit Socks The Sock Knitter’s Companion A video of turning the heel Sock Knitting Tips Yarn: I have used both fingering weight and worsted weight yarn with this pattern. You just change the number of cast on stitches according to your gauge and the circumference of your ankle. Th

What are you making today?

Look! Look! This is the blank journal that I’ll be offering in my upcoming Kickstarter ! It’s a fabric and knitted lace journal cover slipped onto a Levengers Stanley Journal refill. I had a lady at my church make the fabric cover. I knit the lace panel and sewed it on the fabric so you can see the color underneath. The lace pattern is the same as the lace shawl worn by my character Lena in my upcoming book, Lady Wynwood’s Spies, volume 7: Spinster . It’s based on an antique pattern that isn’t quite from the Regency era—maybe 10 or 15 years later—but I felt it was close enough, plus it’s so pretty! I loved knitting this! Happy Boys' Day!
