Lady Wynwood #7 early release Kickstarter

I worked on my first Kickstarter and it got approved! It’s for the Special Edition Hardcover of Lady Wynwood’s Spies, volume 1: Archer and the release of Lady Wynwood’s Spies, volume 7: Spinster. I contacted my graphic designer about the Special Edition Hardcover of vol. 1: Archer—it’s going to be SO beautiful! The Kickstarter focuses on the Special Edition Hardcover, but it’ll also include vol. 7: Spinster so that it’ll sort of be like a launch day for vol. 7, too. A third special thing that’ll be in the Kickstarter is Special Edition Paperbacks of all the books in the series. They won’t be available in stores, just in the Kickstarter (and later, from my website, and also in my Patreon book box tiers if I decide to do them). The Kickstarter is not live yet, but you can follow it to be alerted when it has launched. (You may need to create a free Kickstarter account.) Follow Camy’s Kickstarter

Book meme

Captain's Log, Stardate 09.04.2007

Mandy Leigh tagged me for this meme. How could I resist? I mean, BOOKS!!!

1) Total number of books I own: I have an excel spreadsheet that lists all the books I own AND the ones I’ve read and given away, so it’s hard for me to gauge. What’s embarrassing is that it says I own and have owned a total of 4,530 books. I didn’t buy them all at full price—the majority of them are out of print Regency romances that I got at Goodwill for $1 each.

2) Last book I bought: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

3) Last book I read: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (I really liked it, I don’t care what people say about the ending)

4-8) Five books that mean a lot to me: (I’m going to go with novels because that’s what I feel like)

Persuasion by Jane Austen. My favorite novel.

Sushi for One? by Moi, for obvious reasons.

Dragonsong by Anne McCaffrey. The first time I read it, it was so good, it made me cry that it ended.

Firebird by Kathy Tyers (the revised version). This novel completely captured my emotions and I was devastated (in a good way) when it ended.

Regency Miss by Alix Melbourne. This was the very first romance novel that I ever read, and it completely captivated me. I’ve loved romances—and especially Regency romances—ever since.

Oh, yeah, like I can SO post this. HELLO...conference is in less than 2 weeks! Uh, I have no clue how many books I own....hubby would say too many. LOL Last book I bought was Harry Potter. Last book I read was Anathemia by Colleen Coble. Oops, you cant' read it yet...it's not out. LOLOLOLOL Five books that mean a lot to me? My four! LOL Uh, Dineen Miller's Manna Reign, because I believe the book has the potential to really impact a lot of lives. Ronie Kendig's Midnight Zone because she's an amazing writer and I love her action scenes. Cheryl Wyatt's Soldiers of Refuge series because of the emotional depth. And there's this one book by some Asian chick that really touched me...hmmmm, can't recall the author's name! LOL

Now, am I off the hook?

I, also, don't know how many bookks I own--though I did do a purge a few years ago when I installed floating bookshelves nearly wall-to-wall in my small second bedroom/office.

I liked the ending of HP, too. :-)

See you in two weeks!!

Robin, You are sooo bad. LOLOL Love it! Thank you for your comments on mine. And you're right--Neen's rocks.
My eyes glazed over when I read spreadsheet. Am I excused? LOL! Robin, I'm so honored you would mention Manna. Thank you. And I'm with you on Ronie's—awesome story, but what else would she write?

Number of books I own? — too many for me to read them all! Last book I bought? Writing for Emotional Impact (haven't even read it yet...sigh.) Last book I read? Demon, a Memoir by Tosca Lee (awesome read).

Five books that mean a lot to me?
Bayou Justice, because it's Robin's first book and I had the honor of being one of her crit partners through it. Brand & Bound, one of the most powerful stories I've EVER read. LRB because I LOVE Lex's character and can't wait to read the rest. Three by Ted Dekker because he blew me away with his twist at the end, and Demon, a Memoir, most likely because the emotion blew me away and I just finished it. :-)

Hope you don't mind me answering here. I have no time! Hugs!

Grace Livingston Hill romances free on Google Books

I wanted to update my old post on Grace Livingston Hill romances because now there are tons more options for you to be able to read her books for free online! I’m a huge Grace Livingston Hill fan. Granted, not all her books resonate with me, but there are a few that I absolutely love, like The Enchanted Barn and Crimson Roses . And the best part is that she wrote over 100 books and I haven’t yet read them all! When I have time, I like to dive into a new GLH novel. I like the fact that most of them are romances, and I especially appreciate that they all have strong Christian themes. Occasionally the Christian content is a little heavy-handed for my taste, but it’s so interesting to see what the Christian faith was like in the early part of the 20th century. These books are often Cinderella-type stories or A Little Princess (Frances Hodgson Burnett) type stories, which I love. And the best part is that they’re all set in the early 1900s, so the time period is absolutely fasci

No Cold Bums toilet seat cover

Captain's Log, Stardate 08.22.2008 I actually wrote out my pattern! I was getting a lot of hits on my infamous toilet seat cover , and I wanted to make a new one with “improvements,” so I paid attention and wrote things down as I made the new one. This was originally based off the Potty Mouth toilet cover , but I altered it to fit over the seat instead of the lid. Yarn: any worsted weight yarn, about 120 yards (this is a really tight number, I used exactly 118 yards. My suggestion is to make sure you have about 130 yards.) I suggest using acrylic yarn because you’re going to be washing this often. Needle: I used US 8, but you can use whatever needle size is recommended by the yarn you’re using. Gauge: Not that important. Mine was 4 sts/1 inch in garter stitch. 6 buttons (I used some leftover shell buttons I had in my stash) tapestry needle Crochet hook (optional) Cover: Using a provisional cast on, cast on 12 stitches. Work in garter st until liner measures

What are you reading?

What I’m reading: If the Villainess and Villain Met and Fell in Love (Light Novel), Vol. 1 by Harunadon SOMETIMES FIRE AND ICE ARE PERFECT FOR EACH OTHER. Brigitte Meidell belongs to a noble family, which means high expectations were placed upon her spirit contract. However, her bonded spirit turned out to be a weak no-name, and ever since, she has been a source of shame to her family. She thought her engagement to the prince would turn her life around, but when he publicly breaks off their relationship, she finds herself alone again. After her haughty, villainous behavior as the prince’s bride-to-be, no one shows her much sympathy―except for the duke’s son Yuri, who attends the same magic academy. Yuri is feared for his incredible abilities and icy personality, but with him on her side, her fortunes might have changed... I read this book last month but forgot to post about it. I absolutely love this series! The heroine has such a deep backstory and a plausible reason for her previ

Tabi socks, part deux

Captain's Log, Stardate 07.25.2008 (If you're on Ravelry, friend me! I'm camytang.) I made tabi socks again! (At the bottom of the pattern is the calculation for the toe split if you're not using the same weight yarn that I did for this pattern (fingering). I also give an example from when I used worsted weight yarn with this pattern.) I used Opal yarn, Petticoat colorway. It’s a finer yarn than my last pair of tabi socks, so I altered the pattern a bit. Okay, so here’s my first foray into giving a knitting pattern. Camy’s top-down Tabi Socks I’m assuming you already know the basics of knitting socks. If you’re a beginner, here are some great tutorials: Socks 101 How to Knit Socks The Sock Knitter’s Companion A video of turning the heel Sock Knitting Tips Yarn: I have used both fingering weight and worsted weight yarn with this pattern. You just change the number of cast on stitches according to your gauge and the circumference of your ankle. Th

What are you making today?

Look! Look! This is the blank journal that I’ll be offering in my upcoming Kickstarter ! It’s a fabric and knitted lace journal cover slipped onto a Levengers Stanley Journal refill. I had a lady at my church make the fabric cover. I knit the lace panel and sewed it on the fabric so you can see the color underneath. The lace pattern is the same as the lace shawl worn by my character Lena in my upcoming book, Lady Wynwood’s Spies, volume 7: Spinster . It’s based on an antique pattern that isn’t quite from the Regency era—maybe 10 or 15 years later—but I felt it was close enough, plus it’s so pretty! I loved knitting this! What are you crafting today? Comment below!

Happy Boys' Day!

Regency Goodies Giveaway

To celebrate the release of my debut Regency romance, Prelude for a Lord , I’m holding a huge giveaway of books, hand-knit lace shawls, Jane Austen tea, and violin Christmas ornaments! I’m giving away FIVE baskets. Each has (1) a bag of whole leaf Jane Austen tea from the Jane Austen Centre in Bath, England, (2) a violin ornament in honor of my fictional musicians, Lord Dommick and Lady Alethea, (3) a copy of Prelude for a Lord , and (4) a different hand-knit lace shawl (yes, knit by yours truly). I tried to use knitting patterns that Jane Austen or her contemporaries would have used, although some are more Victorian than Regency. The patterns were all from the knitting pattern book, Victorian Lace Today by Jane Sowerby . ***PLEASE NOTE: For those of you allergic to wool, all the scarves are made with some sort of animal fiber, so be warned that you might react if the scarves touch your skin.
