One Thousand Gifts-16

Captain’s Log, Stardate 12.03.2006

I’m participating in the “One Thousand Gifts” list from Christian Women Online. Click on the picture to find out more about it.

401. My husband won a coupon for coffee from a coffee geeks online board.
402. Thank You, Lord, for women like Janet Edgar (The Inn At Shadow Lake), who loved You and put You first and inspires people even after she’s gone home to be with You.
403. 5MinutesForMom.com has so much good stuff on it—I revisited it yesterday. Good blog posts and columns.
404. Another good women’s online site is Christian Women Online. They really try to develop blogging community and interaction with memes and blogging themes. They’re the ones who told everyone about the One Thousand Gifts meme.
405. I get some traffic from a neat mom site, Mothers Click, which promotes online dialogue and community.
406. I finally picked up my Bible in 90 Days again, and I’m on day 17. It was so nice to read the Word.
407. Sharon gave me a supercool stamping idea, which is perfect for holiday cards
408. I made more cards yesterday! They’re Christmas cards, but since I rarely even send Christmas cards I’m not sure if I’ll use them myself or give them away as gifts.
409. Captain Caffeine is about halfway through my manuscript, the first book in the series. He’s checking my sports references. He’s entertained, which is the best I can hope for since the man rarely reads at all. This will be the first book I see him finish in the entire time I’ve known him, which includes the years we dated.
410. I had a really good night’s sleep last night. I’m not sure why. I could even have slept more, although I got up because it was already pretty late.
411. PAMMER IS THE NEW ACFW VICE PRESIDENT!
412. MICHELLE IS THE NEW ACFW VOLUNTEER OFFICER!
413. I’m having fun doing this One Thousand Gifts thing, because I can include the special people in my life.
414. Captain Caffeine is selling his cigars, and he made enough money to pay for the amp he just bought for his electric guitar!
415. I’m so excited about my new computer!!!! I can’t wait for it to arrive. I am hopeful it will help motivate me to finish this manuscript!
416. Heather leaves for Denver in 9 days!!!
417. Snickers ran out the open door today, but I was able to run out with one of my homemade peanut butter biscuits in my hand and she came RIGHT BACK TO ME! Amazing.
418. My husband and I have determined to be more firm in disciplining our dog from this day on.
419. I bought a couple quote books yesterday from Amazon (relatively cheaply) that I hope will be useful for penning quotes inside cards that I send to people. I should also go through my Bible and put all my favorite verses in a Word document to use those, too.
420. I just got my new Romance Writers Report. I enjoy reading the articles, especially the ones on career.
421. I got a nice hug from my husband yesterday.
422. I broke a bowl yesterday, which is actually a good thing because it was a cheap bowl and now there’s more room in my cabinet.
423. Hot tea with soymilk and sugar is so comforting.
424. These Nissan stainless steel travel mugs are just awesome for keeping my dinks hot for so long!
425. Advil is a wonderful thing.

Lena’s Diamond Shawl – A Free Knitting Pattern from a Regency Spy Novel

In my book, Lady Wynwood’s Spies, Volume 7: Spinster , my heroine Lena is recovering from sickness and uses her favorite shawl to keep warm. 🧵 Click here to download the FREE PDF of the pattern. Here’s the short excerpt from the book that mentions the shawl: 📖 Excerpt from Lady Wynwood’s Spies, Volume 7: Spinster Lena still felt a chill as she sat in the sunlight streaming through the window of the Viponds’ drawing room. She was swathed in her favorite lace shawl, a gift from Melinda, who had knit it in Lena’s favorite color, red, along with cream and pink stripes. Tabitha finished pouring the tea and handed her a cup. Lena tried to smile as she took it, but her face felt stiff, like hardened clay. She was an utter failure. Despite all her training as an agent, she’d been undone by a malicious woman and a locked balcony in the rain. Had she given up too quickly? She’d been deterred by the railing, believing it would have broken under her weight. She had also been shivering t...

Tabi socks, part deux

Captain's Log, Stardate 07.25.2008 (If you're on Ravelry, friend me! I'm camytang.) I made tabi socks again! (At the bottom of the pattern is the calculation for the toe split if you're not using the same weight yarn that I did for this pattern (fingering). I also give an example from when I used worsted weight yarn with this pattern.) I used Opal yarn, Petticoat colorway. It’s a finer yarn than my last pair of tabi socks, so I altered the pattern a bit. Okay, so here’s my first foray into giving a knitting pattern. Camy’s top-down Tabi Socks I’m assuming you already know the basics of knitting socks. If you’re a beginner, here are some great tutorials: Socks 101 How to Knit Socks The Sock Knitter’s Companion A video of turning the heel Sock Knitting Tips Yarn: I have used both fingering weight and worsted weight yarn with this pattern. You just change the number of cast on stitches according to your gauge and the circumference of your ankle. Th...
