Sunday Prayer

Captain's Log, Stardate 05.14.2006

Leave any prayer requests in the comments and I’ll be praying this week. You don’t have to be Christian to leave a prayer request. If you’d rather not advertise to everyone on the blogosphere, just leave an unspoken prayer request or email me. If I forgot your prayer request, email me. Not to be mean or anything, but if you don't email me or comment to update your prayer request, I'm only going to pray 3 Sundays.

[I cheated this week—I copied and pasted most of the prayer requests because I’m so busy—but I did pray them all as I read through them.]

Thank you Lord, for your love and grace.

Comfort those who are grieving, Lord. Give them exactly what they need.

Help Heather with her new client and help her add 18K to her manuscript.

Please help Pammer find time for her writing. Give her discipline, focus, motivation, strength.

I pray that Squirl’s surgery will go well and smoothly, and that her hip will be healed completely. Thank you for this new opportunity—please help her get a contract soon.

Continue to lead and guide Dineen in her writing. Help her to understand what she needs to continue to move forward in her manuscript.

I pray for justice for Robin and her family. Thank you for the new door that has opened for her. I pray she gets a contract soon.

Lift up Ronie in your arms and help her to feel peace. Give her strength and guidance. Help her as she prays.

Give Ron wisdom and strength.

Please give Mir relief from the tinnitic, allergies and other health problems. Also be with her as she finishes up her proposal for Warner Faith.

Give Sharon H. energy, strength and creativity to work on her new project.

Help Lori K.’s recovery go smoothly and quickly.

I pray for even more open doors for Gina H.’s writing.

Please convict Paula M.’s family’s client to pay his overdue bill. Continue to provide for them, and protect them from spiritual warfare.

I lift up Megan D. to you this week, and help her to endure and feel your joy.

Please heal Malia’s back and knee completely, and work everything out with her insurance.

Lead and guide Donna F. in her new projects.

Help Mok prepare for her exam, and continue to grow her in her writing.

Help Audra S. with her new baby and all the other things on her plate right now.

Be with RagamuffinDiva in her words this week.

Help Angie P. find her strength in you, and heal Pattie completely.

Give Lynette S. your love and wisdom in her writing.

Give Tiff love and trust in you in all aspects of her life.

Lord, please be with Janet. She's going through a really rough time. Lead and guide her and cover her with your peace.

Please help Tina, Mary C., Myra, Pam, Cheryl and Ruthy hear back soon about their manuscripts.

Please help Myra’s move go smoothly and quickly. Be with Missy in her new job, and give her strength. Continue to pursue Mariah. Please heal Tina’s son’s ankle quickly. Take care of Carolyn, her family, and their housing stresses. Heal Pam’s son’s collarbone quickly, and help him not to get sick from the pain meds. I pray for physical healing on all the SAYSFers.

Open up Dream’s heart to even more blessings from you.

I pray for your choice of publisher for Judy G.’s book.

Please cover Louise G. and her family with your powerful grace during this time.

Please help Katie’s brother Stephen recover smoothly and quickly from his shoulder surgery.

I lift up Angie A. and pray for healing and rest for her.

Give Eileen K. guidance and wisdom, to know the course of action you want her to take.

Keep your hand over Ane M. and her writing.

Help Becky M. to give you glory in her writing.

Continue to sustain Winter in her writing and the other things in her life, and give her abundant joy and blessings in you.

Thank you for Cathy’s request from an agent. Please continue to affirm her writing and help her to keep her eyes on your glory.

Heal Sigrun in both her body and her family. Please give her wisdom about her right arm pain, what she should do about it. Help her to keep her spirits up and to trust completely, joyfully, thankfully in you.

Let your hand be over each of LaShaunda’s submissions.

Please keep Ruth A.’s Mom, Dad and brother safe during their trip to Israel. I also pray for your strength over Ruth at work. Please ease the tension and give her wisdom.

Please heal Diana D.’s ankle completely and quickly, and help her to continue to trust in you and be filled with your love.

I pray for continued healing for Rose’s daughter.

Father, continue to be with Connie S. I lift her up into your arms, to comfort her and give her strength. Fill her with your love for her.

Give strength to my friends married to non-believers this week.

Let your persecuted church bring you glory, Lord.

Thank you for the faithful prayers of my friends for me! Thank you for helping me to write more today, and continue to enable me to write and finish this manuscript by my deadline. I can only do this by your power, Lord.

Cover us all with your love and power. Amen.

I assumed you meant 11:59 pm 5/15 Camy...that's a FULL day after all and you have the right to take advantage of every single nanosecond!! :)
Thanks so much for the prayer. The family is safe and enjoying their trip, and as of last Wednesday when I left work for a few much-needed days away, things were doing better. I go back on Wednesday, so we'll see...thanks for the prayer covering, I appreciate it so much!!
Hi Camy,
I don't know if you remember me but I gave you a shout on my blog and you wrote in. I was just thinking as I read this entry, "what a beatiful woman you come across..."
And of course, God Bless

Brainstorm - character occupation

Captain's Log, Stardate 03.23.2009 Hey guys, I could use some help. In my current manuscript, The Year of the Dog , which is a humorous contemporary romance, I have a minor character, Eddie. He’s my heroine’s ex-boyfriend, and they’re on good terms with each other. He’s a bit irresponsible, but not so much so that he’s a complete loser. He’s got a very easy going attitude, he forgets to pay his bills sometimes, he’s friendly and charming. He’s adventurous and fun to be around, but he’s a little forgetful sometimes, and he tends to spend a little outside his income. I need an occupation for him. What would a charming, easy going, slightly irresponsible guy do for a living? He’s not too irresponsible, because otherwise readers will wonder what in the world my heroine saw in him to date him in the first place. She was attracted to his charm, his easy going attitude (her family’s uptight, and he was a nice contrast), and his adventurousness. But his forgetfulness and irresponsibility ...

Lavender hand lotion

Captain's Log, Stardate 11.05.2009 I have to tell you, I LOVE Etsy.com ! Etsy is dedicated to providing a marketplace for people who like to make handmade products and people who appreciate them (and buy them). It has everything from handmade gifts (like my mom’s Bucilla Christmas stockings and ornaments and tree skirts and wall hangings and … well, just click here to see what she has! ) to soaps and lotions and jewelry and knitted items and hand-painted yarn and ... I could surf that website for DAYS. Anyway, lately I’ve been concerned about the lead content in my lotions, especially since I’m using them more now that it’s turned colder and drier here in California. I have to use lotion on my hands everytime after I wash them. So I went onto Etsy and searched for organic hand lotions, and bought this lavender lotion from Lue Cosmetics . What was really nice is that the owner, Jane, sent me a direct message via Etsy right after I made the purchase to ask if I’d received it yet and ...

Tabi socks, part deux

Captain's Log, Stardate 07.25.2008 (If you're on Ravelry, friend me! I'm camytang.) I made tabi socks again! (At the bottom of the pattern is the calculation for the toe split if you're not using the same weight yarn that I did for this pattern (fingering). I also give an example from when I used worsted weight yarn with this pattern.) I used Opal yarn, Petticoat colorway. It’s a finer yarn than my last pair of tabi socks, so I altered the pattern a bit. Okay, so here’s my first foray into giving a knitting pattern. Camy’s top-down Tabi Socks I’m assuming you already know the basics of knitting socks. If you’re a beginner, here are some great tutorials: Socks 101 How to Knit Socks The Sock Knitter’s Companion A video of turning the heel Sock Knitting Tips Yarn: I have used both fingering weight and worsted weight yarn with this pattern. You just change the number of cast on stitches according to your gauge and the circumference of your ankle. Th...

Chinese Take-Out and Sushi for One

Captain’s Log, Supplemental My agent sent me an article from Publisher’s Weekly that discussed this incident: Chinese Take-Out Spawns Christian Controversy And here’s also a blog post that talks about it in more detail: The Fighting 44s This is Soong-Chan Rah’s blog: The PCS blog In sum: Apparently Zondervan (yes, my publisher), who has partnered with Youth Specialties, had put out a youth leaders skit that had stereotypical Asian dialogue, which offended many Christian Asian Americans. In response to the outcry, Zondervan/Youth Specialities put out a sincere apology and is not only freezing the remaining stock of the book, but also reprinting it and replacing the copies people have already bought. I am very proud of my publisher for how they have handled this situation. The skit writers have also issued a public apology . (I feel sorry for them, because they were only trying to write a funny skit, not stir up this maelstrom of internet controversy. I’ve been in youth work long enou...
