Lady Wynwood #7 early release Kickstarter

I worked on my first Kickstarter and it got approved! It’s for the Special Edition Hardcover of Lady Wynwood’s Spies, volume 1: Archer and the release of Lady Wynwood’s Spies, volume 7: Spinster. I contacted my graphic designer about the Special Edition Hardcover of vol. 1: Archer—it’s going to be SO beautiful! The Kickstarter focuses on the Special Edition Hardcover, but it’ll also include vol. 7: Spinster so that it’ll sort of be like a launch day for vol. 7, too. A third special thing that’ll be in the Kickstarter is Special Edition Paperbacks of all the books in the series. They won’t be available in stores, just in the Kickstarter (and later, from my website, and also in my Patreon book box tiers if I decide to do them). Allez cuisine! (I’m not sure if I spelled that right. Iron Chef watchers know what I’m talking about.)

I got this from MothersClick.com newsletter, which highlighted ClassyMommy.com, a website for baby and shower gifts.

ClassyMommy found a wooden sushi toy set from NicoandZoe.com.



Isn’t that wild? Can kids even eat raw fish??? Is it appropriate to give a kid a fake set of food they can’t eat yet?

I could give a set away with my book, Sushi for One? It would match my book, don’t you think? What do you say? Or do you think mothers all over would think I was more nuts than I already am?

I have no idea whether it's appropriate for kids or not, but it would make me happy. :-)

I don't know whether or not it's okay to give kids raw fish. I'm not a mom, so I've never heard one way or the other.

But I wouldn't be so concerned about the fake raw fish. I'm a little wary of that giant cleaver that's sitting in the back! :)

Lol, I'm pretty sure eating raw fish isn't all that good for kiddos BUT the set is made out of wood and I don't think a kid can really eat wood even if they tried, or at least I hope not. Seriously though that set is too cute! I, like Sbaar, wonder a little about the cleaver though!

Honestly, my kids wouldn't know what to do with it. They'd look at you and go, so, where's the real toy? LOL! Then again, I think my twins would find some use with the fake knife. Oh, I can see them now--"Wait! I wanna see if it will really cut!"

Aww, what a cool idea, Camy! You could even split the pieces up, include one or the "role" with the set of chopsticks you're doing. What fun! Pop in a pack of dry seaweed and you're set. LOL!

Such a perfect idea for a giveaway with your book...maybe at book signings having a set out. It would certainly draw attention which is always good! Can't wait until your book is finally out.

I think it would be a great gift for children. It would introduce them to new food, culture, etc. Sushi is delicious!

My kids have fake sushi in their pretend kitchen. I bought it last year for Christmas. It came complete with chopsticks, wasabi, a square plate, etc. Not as nice as your example, but cost under $10. My daughter just saw your set. Now she wants that one too!

No Cold Bums toilet seat cover

Captain's Log, Stardate 08.22.2008 I actually wrote out my pattern! I was getting a lot of hits on my infamous toilet seat cover , and I wanted to make a new one with “improvements,” so I paid attention and wrote things down as I made the new one. This was originally based off the Potty Mouth toilet cover , but I altered it to fit over the seat instead of the lid. Yarn: any worsted weight yarn, about 120 yards (this is a really tight number, I used exactly 118 yards. My suggestion is to make sure you have about 130 yards.) I suggest using acrylic yarn because you’re going to be washing this often. Needle: I used US 8, but you can use whatever needle size is recommended by the yarn you’re using. Gauge: Not that important. Mine was 4 sts/1 inch in garter stitch. 6 buttons (I used some leftover shell buttons I had in my stash) tapestry needle Crochet hook (optional) Cover: Using a provisional cast on, cast on 12 stitches. Work in garter st until liner measures

Tabi socks, part deux

Captain's Log, Stardate 07.25.2008 (If you're on Ravelry, friend me! I'm camytang.) I made tabi socks again! (At the bottom of the pattern is the calculation for the toe split if you're not using the same weight yarn that I did for this pattern (fingering). I also give an example from when I used worsted weight yarn with this pattern.) I used Opal yarn, Petticoat colorway. It’s a finer yarn than my last pair of tabi socks, so I altered the pattern a bit. Okay, so here’s my first foray into giving a knitting pattern. What are you making today?

Look! Look! This is the blank journal that I’ll be offering in my upcoming Kickstarter ! It’s a fabric and knitted lace journal cover slipped onto a Levengers Stanley Journal refill. I had a lady at my church make the fabric cover. I knit the lace panel and sewed it on the fabric so you can see the color underneath. The lace pattern is the same as the lace shawl worn by my character Lena in my upcoming book, Lady Wynwood’s Spies, volume 7: Spinster . It’s based on an antique pattern that isn’t quite from the Regency era—maybe 10 or 15 years later—but I felt it was close enough, plus it’s so pretty! I loved knitting this!
