A notorious gang puts a bounty on Detective Cady Matthews’s head after she takes down their leader, leaving her no choice but to hide until she can testify at trial. But her temporary home across the country on a remote North Carolina island isn’t as peaceful as she initially thinks. Living under the new identity of Cassidy Livingston, she struggles to keep her investigative skills tucked away, especially after a body washes ashore. When local police bungle the murder investigation, she can’t resist stepping in. But Cassidy is supposed to be keeping a low profile. One wrong move could lead to both her discovery and her demise. Can she bring justice to the island . . . or will the hidden currents surrounding her pull her under for good? Hidden Currents is the first book in the six-book Lantern Beach Mystery series. Each book contains a standalone mystery, but there are overarching mysteries within the entire series. Get it now for

Continued from part 3:
Genesis contest: Talk about nightmare. Actually, I seriously think there was spiritual warfare going on, because suddenly the Powerpoint program started making the pictures disappear.
It had worked fine on my husband’s Mac laptop, my pastor’s PC laptop, and Dineen’s Mac laptop. But suddenly in the conference’s new PC laptop, it went haywire.
Oh, did I mention this is about 30 minutes before the doors opened to let people into the banquet???
By the grace of God, I’d saved a copy on Dineen’s hard drive, and the hotel tech guy found a switch that would enable both the conference PC laptop and Dineen’s laptop to be hooked into the projector. The switch simply allowed the tech operator to flip back and forth between projecting the PC or the Mac on the screen.
So the majority of the dinner had the slides run on the conference PC, and then for the awards, we ran the Powerpoint from Dineen’s Mac. No problems.
The next laptop I’m getting is going to be a Mac.
Robin Cynclair presented the Book of the Year awards, and I presented the Genesis awards. We both speak fast, so we had been consciously trying to sloooooow dooooooown.
The best part was when after all the pictures had been taken, Robin and I collapsed outside on the hotel patio with margaritas and a mongo order of fries. Well deserved, I should say!
Next year, I’m hoping to arrive a day early and stay a day late. The conference was a lot of fun, but way too hectic for me.
The End.
Pictures coming eventually. I’ll post them on my Scrapbook blog.

Writing: I posted a review of The Wedding Caper by Janice Thompson here because I’m also giving it away this week here.
Tonight is a meeting with my San Jose writer friends (we’re not an official ACFW local group because we have non-ACFW members) and WE’RE HAVING RACLETTE!!!! Yummos!
Diet: Didn’t do good today, but also didn’t overeat. I didn’t exercise—I was way too sore—and I made French onion soup with gruyere cheese for dinner. Lots of butter, lots of time (I was sautéing nonstop for an hour to caramelize the onions, but it also gave me time to clean up the dining room in between stirring). We also had leftover steak from Alexander’s Steakhouse (went there with my folks last week). So not the healthiest dinner menu, but I didn’t over-indulge in my portions.
