Sunday Prayer

Captain's Log, Stardate 02.26.2006

Leave any prayer requests in the comments and I’ll be praying this week. You don’t have to be Christian to leave a prayer request. If you’d rather not advertise to everyone on the blogosphere, just leave an unspoken prayer request or email me.

If you don’t see yourself and you want to, email me or leave a comment. Not to be mean or anything, but if you don't email me or comment to update your prayer request, I'm only going to pray 3 Sundays.

Lord, thank you for your glory in the whole earth.

Lord, I lift up friends and acquaintances who have lost their spouses this month. Cover them with your powerful hand, comfort them as only you can, in all your love, and let them feel your presence.

Father, give Christina courage and strength as she finishes her last weeks in Japan. Thank you for how you've used her for your glory. Continue to be leading her so that she can serve you as a strong woman of God.

Thank you for being with Heather this weekend at the retreat. Open her heart to your voice. You know that she only desires to be obedient to whatever you want to do in her, through her.

Protect Pammer from the spiritual warfare working against her self-esteem and her writing. Help her to listen instead to you voice and your word.

Give Squirl and her doctors wisdom about what to do with her hip. I pray for complete healing for her.

Father, I lift up the orphanages in India to you. Please protect them physically and spiritually from the attacks, and cover each of those children and workers with your mighty hand.

Father, guide Robin in what you'd like her to do. Keep your hand over each of her submissions and let it fall into the right hands.

Be with Ronie as she prepares to move. Help her to trust you in all things, and feel your incomprehensible peace.

Work through Dineen as she finishes her projects. Help her to write for you alone.

Be with Ron in his work, family and writing time.

Please heal Mir from her persistent pains and aches. I pray for healing for her, Lord, and peace in her heart. Help her with her writing this week and her health discipline (me too, Lord!).

Be with Sharon H. despite the way her body is distracting her and hindering her. Give her strength and creativity to finish her manuscript.

I lift up Lori to you and pray for a good surgery and smooth recovery.

Continue to heal Amber by your might and power.

Give Gina H. and her agent wisdom about her projects and her writing. I pray you will help her to find the right editor in the right house.

Help Crystal to know your will, and give her assurance of your love and power.

Continue to help Paula to keep her eyes on you. Be with her in her writing, the waiting, her family, and all the other church and social things in her life. Help her to continue to walk toward you, Lord.

Continue to help Megan at her new job. Give her wisdom. Help her in her writing, to lift it up to you.

Grant the healing that only you can give to Darlene's friend's daughter.

Refresh Donna, and give her strength as she finishes her book in the coming weeks.

Help Heather G. to find her self-esteem and identity in you alone. Shower her with your love, Lord. Don't let her go.

Praise you for giving Malia relief from her back pain through the chiropractor. Please continue to help her. Heal her knee and give wisdom to her doctors.

Continue to help Mok with her classes. Give her your strength and direction for her life and career.

Thank you for Gail's continued healing. Be with her daughter Brenda and ease her suffering from the chemo's side effects. Please heal her, Lord.

I pray for healing and peace for Margaret's friend, diagnosed with bone cancer.

Help Donna C. as she recovers from heart stent surgery. Help her recovery to progress smoothly, without complications or pain.

Continue to cover RagamuffinDiva with your sheltering hand.

I lift up Angie to you, especially as her job becomes busier. Thank you for her sense of humor. Heal her body, Lord, and help her continue to be smoke-free. I pray for healing for Pattie and a quiet spirit.

Thank you for Audra's smooth delivery! Give her strength and energy as she cares for her new baby girl, and keep her in good health.

Continue to guide Lynette on her new projects. Be with her as she writes, and help her to lift her writing all to you.

Guide LaShaunda about where to send her projects, and be with her as she waits.

I pray for Tiff's submissions, and pray they are fruitful. Help her with her job, and to find time for all she wants to do.

I pray Tina will hear soon about her manuscript. Thank you for the opportunity for her, Lord.

Help Mary C. as she waits on the committee's decision on her book. I won't say the P-word, but please give her strength and peace, Lord.

Give Missy your peace and strength. Help her decide about going back to work or not, and help her no matter where you tell her to go.

Cover Mariah with your love and peace, Lord. Make straight paths for her feet.

Continue to provide for Dream and keep your hand over her. Give her discernment and power and peace. Lord, she is your child and you are all she needs. Protect her and comfort her, calm her and strengthen her.

Please be with Sigrun's sister-in-law's parents. They really need you, especially now. You've kept watch over them. Please comfort them now--heal them, if that's your will--but mostly please give them an awareness of you and how much they need you.

I pray for healing for Zola, in Jesus' name

For my friends married to non-believers, Lord please give them hope this week.

Father, cover your persecuted church with your grace.

Thank you that my surgery recovery has been good so far. Please continue to help me heal smoothly. Please give me grace and strength for my discipline in my writing, eating, and exercise.

Our Redeemer, whose name is the Lord of Heaven's Armies, is the Holy One of Israel.

No Cold Bums toilet seat cover

Captain's Log, Stardate 08.22.2008 I actually wrote out my pattern! I was getting a lot of hits on my infamous toilet seat cover , and I wanted to make a new one with “improvements,” so I paid attention and wrote things down as I made the new one. This was originally based off the Potty Mouth toilet cover , but I altered it to fit over the seat instead of the lid. Yarn: any worsted weight yarn, about 120 yards (this is a really tight number, I used exactly 118 yards. My suggestion is to make sure you have about 130 yards.) I suggest using acrylic yarn because you’re going to be washing this often. Needle: I used US 8, but you can use whatever needle size is recommended by the yarn you’re using. Gauge: Not that important. Mine was 4 sts/1 inch in garter stitch. 6 buttons (I used some leftover shell buttons I had in my stash) tapestry needle Crochet hook (optional) Cover: Using a provisional cast on, cast on 12 stitches. Work in garter st until liner measures

Save the Date - Camy's Patreon Launch

My Patreon will launch in 1 week! I took all the results of the poll and I have hopefully created fun and appealing tiers. About my Patreon: I'm trying something new for the next 6-7 months. If it works, I'll continue, but if I end up not liking it, I'll stop it in September or October. I will be starting a monthly subscription membership on a new Patreon account. I will be posting the chapters of my current book ( Lady Wynwood’s Spies, volume 7 ) so you can read ahead of when the ebook will be edited and published. My current plan is to post 1-2 chapters weekly. One reason I’m switching things up is that I want to get closer to my readers and build a tighter, more intimate community with you. You can comment on each chapter of my book, give a reaction, ask a question, or even correct mistakes. My books will become a dialogue with you. If you subscribe to my Patreon, you'll be charged monthly and have access to all the benefits for the tier you subscribe to. The

Tabi socks, part deux

Captain's Log, Stardate 07.25.2008 (If you're on Ravelry, friend me! I'm camytang.) I made tabi socks again! (At the bottom of the pattern is the calculation for the toe split if you're not using the same weight yarn that I did for this pattern (fingering). I also give an example from when I used worsted weight yarn with this pattern.) I used Opal yarn, Petticoat colorway. It’s a finer yarn than my last pair of tabi socks, so I altered the pattern a bit. Okay, so here’s my first foray into giving a knitting pattern. Camy’s top-down Tabi Socks I’m assuming you already know the basics of knitting socks. If you’re a beginner, here are some great tutorials: Socks 101 How to Knit Socks The Sock Knitter’s Companion A video of turning the heel Sock Knitting Tips Yarn: I have used both fingering weight and worsted weight yarn with this pattern. You just change the number of cast on stitches according to your gauge and the circumference of your ankle. Th

I GOT A 3-BOOK CONTRACT WITH ZONDERVAN!

Captain's Log, Supplemental My agent called me today with the great news! Zondervan has contracted me for another three books! Right now, they’re all stand alone books—not a series. The first book is slated to release May 2010 and is tentatively titled The Year of the Dog (they’ll probably change it). It’s a women’s contemporary novel. Here’s the back cover blurb from my proposal: Tessa Ota, a professional dog trainer, is having a bad year. While moving ahead with renovation plans for her new dog kenneling and training facility, Tessa needs to move in with her disapproving mother and her antagonist sister. She convinces her ex-boyfriend to take her dog for a few months … but discovers that his brother is the irate engineer whose car she rammed a few weeks earlier. Charles Bretton has enough problems. His mama has just shown up on his doorstep all the way from Louisiana, and his brother has to move in with him after being kicked out of his apartment—with a dog in tow. And guess who

Toilet seat cover

Captain’s Log, Supplemental Update August 2008: I wrote up the pattern for this with "improvements"! Here's the link to my No Cold Bums toilet seat cover ! Okay, remember a few days ago I was complaining about the cold toilet seat in my bathroom? Well, I decided to knit a seat cover. Not a lid cover, but a seat cover. I went online and couldn’t find anything for the seat, just one pattern for the lid by Feminitz.com . However, I took her pattern for the inside edge of the lid cover and modified it to make a seat cover. Here it is! It’s really ugly stitch-wise because originally I made it too small and had to extend it a couple inches on each side. I figured I’d be the one staring at it, so who cared if the extension wasn’t perfectly invisible? I used acrylic yarn since, well, that’s what I had, and also because it’s easy to wash. I’ll probably have to wash this cover every week or so, but it’s easy to take off—I made ties which you can see near the back of the seat. And

Chopsticks and knitting

Hahahahaha! My husband, Captain Caffeine sent me this cartoon. The Asian and the knitter in me loves this one: My parents taught me to use chopsticks at an early age so they’re pretty comfortable for me. Did you know there are differences between Japanese and Chinese chopsticks? The Chinese ones tend to be blunter and more slippery whereas the Japanese ones are pointier and sometimes have a textured tip to make it easier to grab food. My mom will eat salad with a chopstick, which I have to admit is a bit easier than a fork, for me. Any of you knit? Any of you use chopsticks?
